I just saw that the Spyder3Elite ($250) will calibrate front projection displays (though its step down sibling the Pro will not) and I was wondering if it makes more sense for someone to buy this equipment which will calibrate every display you're likely to own in your life versus paying $400+ every time you need a new display ISF calibrated. For those who have used it (or for professional calibrators that have an opinion), can the average user expect to get comparable results to that of an ISF calibrator? (if not, why not and how far off?). (Professional calibrators: don't throw rocks at me, I don't doubt that your equipment and calibration skill are superior to anything I can buy, I'm just trying to figure out what's practical). Calibration, in my opinion, is not optional on displays that cost many thousands of dollars, but I also feel that my TV which was calibrated with DVE stands to gain from a better calibration.
I also see that DVE has just released HD Basics as well as other manufacturers Blu-ray and HD-DVD offerings, are any of these <$50 offerings better than the others and how do they compare to a Spyder3Elite or a professional ISF calibration?
Thanks for the information...
