Psych on USA

Season One coming to NBC April 6, 2008. I kicked the Dish habit a while ago and will be happy to see it reran. And in HD, this time.

edit: Unsure if Psych is returning to NBC; the thread title is changed to reflect USA-HD instead, since new episodes originate there. Contacting them via e-mail only got a canned response....

I guess this should be merged into the other thread, afterall...

Monk also.

I never watched these on USA, as they weren't in HD when I had E*. Now that we're an OTA-only family, I'll check these out.

Monk is great, but you have to get passed the over-the-top overacting of the two stars to appreciate Psych (I have, and it has been one of my "must-see" since its premier).

Is there any info that they are in HD, both the Sage TV guide and Zap2it, do not have it listed in HD But, I did see a preview in HD the other night, so that is a good sign.. Please correct me here!!

I agree Psych is great, the fast paced "banter" of Gus and Shawn is some great dialog writing!!

Titan TV has bot listed as HD/Dolby Digital. I'm looking forward to it. Probably the only time I'll ever see Monk or Psych in HD.

Very cool, and USA HD with both of these shows leaves much to be desired... Hopefully the reruns on NBC are nice HQ!!!

Watchin' OTA....love the show, but the PQ is not too hot. Very grainy in places.

I hope that people who have never experienced Monk or Psych will become new converts and regular viewers. I'd like to see these two continue for a while longer.

...especially on NBC HD. I noticed at the end of Psych they ran the usual "go to NBC.com" promo as they do for other NBC shows. There are actual NBC pages for "Monk" and "Psych" at nbc.com. It looks like more than a one-day only thing like they've done in the past.

I used to watch Monk all the time on USA. Since getting an HDTV 1-1/2 years ago I haven't watch much on that channel. It's nice to get to see Monk again in HDTV. Sunday's broadcast looked pretty good.

USA-HD is carrying both Monk and Psych in HD now, in case you were toying with the idea of DirecTV.

It's probably some (visual) stylistic-decision, but the very grainy PQ of this show pales in comparison to Monk, which is bright & crisp. And I get the feeling that's not gonna' change anytime soon.

Reminder. New season of Psych starts on USA Friday night, July 18th.

DVR is all set. The promo with the 2 of them doing "Ebony and Ivory" is a hoot.

[Can someone change the title to refer USA HD?]

I thought tonight's of Psych was probably the best one so far. Not too silly, lots of obscure references, and just all-around fun. I even enjoyed Lassiter for a change.

I think Shawn finally has realized he's in love with Jules!

I knew I was in love with her the minute she first appeared on the show.

I wish it would come back to NBC. After seeing "Monk" and "Psych" on NBC, it's just not the same anymore.

And it's not like NBC has anything better to show. Can anybody say SVU repeats on Saturday or the Baby Borrowers and Celebrity Circus on Wednesday(both NOT HD!).

GIVE US MONK AND PSYCH IN HD DAMMIT!!!

My interest in this show wavered after a short while, so i havn't seen anything recent. But what I have noticed is the commercials for CBS' "The Mentalist". From what you can tell of these brief commercials, the lead's gimmick in that one is his memory and ability to recall details. Aren't those supposed to be Shawn's ability? IOW, is this 'Mentalist' basically the same concept sans the humor?

This show is definitely growing on me. When I first started watching it about a year and a half ago, I wasn't too sure. Now it's right up there with some of my favorites.

"Like Psych, but not funny." That's exactly what I thought when I first read the synopsis of "The Mentalist" and you're right, the previews have backed that image up. My wife said the same thing the first time she saw a preview for it as well. In all fairness, there is supposed to be a difference, in "The Mentalist" he's a former fake psychic, who uses his powers of observation to help solve crimes, but he no longer pretends to be psychic.
Basically it sounds like the mentalist IS psych except everyone knows he is a BS psychic. I think that is what makes Psych great. Shawn investigates and observes then he and Gus come up with a creative way to make it look like he psychically observed it.

I think(and kinda hope) "The Mentalist" will follow the tradition of CBS Tuesday shows and fail. It seems like it is getting into "Monk" territory with the observations and again, "Monk" is more creative and clever(with the whole OCD aspect).

Probably the way some programming executives think, "hey, if we take 1 part Monk and mix it with 1 part Psych we'll have a completely different show....and nobody will notice what we've done as long as we advertize it as NEW!

Well at least now they can really flirt and give each other doe eyes on camera and make it part of the character.

Unless they break up in real life and then I expect Jules will get mysteriously reassigned like cutthroat bitch from House did in the second episode of Psych.

This show will never win awards but it's a still 45 minutes of a good time.

Loved the 70s theme this week but I wished they'd made more use of Henry's ability and the little Pysch-esque zooms he was doing.
