Hi all, this is my first post.
I'm trying to update the Main FW of my 805 (1.00/1.04) with my homemade dongle (Based on a female HDMI cable) and keep getting the Timeout error when running Flashsta.
I understand that it could be either a faulty connection with the dongle or an issue with the serial connection. Regarding the dongle it looks OK, and the standby light is not coming on when I plug the receiver, so it could be working.
As for the serial connection I checked that it works by sending a couple of commands through HyperTerminal (!1PWR01, !1PWR00) and the receiver would turn on and off. I'm using a USB/serial cable with the appropriate drivers and COM1.
My specific question to the good people here is if the fact that the serial connection works with HyperTerminal, rule out any problem with it and I should concentrate on the dongle or if there could be a problem with the serial even if it works with HT?
Thanks in advance for any help. Gerardo,

Probably the homemade Dongle. Try making another.

I added myself to the list. I assume that the user contacts the next person in the list and mails the equipment to them. Who do we thank for making these in the first place?
...much smoother than the DSP update. I did get the e2prom error, but a reset cured that. Off to redo all the settings... thankfully I wrote them down before starting
What was I thinking!! A momentary lapse of sanity I guess
