I agree it should support it, but the whole CE industry has always been driven by forced obsolence. I am not holding my breath that the 805 and other receivers sold over the last couple of years support 3D over HDMI.
Before getting too worried about 3D support I think we should wait and see how quickly 3D is adopted in the consumer market. Right now there is talk of a couple of 3D channel and some BD-3D players but other than some exclusive pack-ins there really is no other BD software. I have a feeling most of the studios are going to try and use 1-BD SKU, aka a single 2D/3D version of a disc, to force higher BD prices much like the studios have used theatrical 3D to increase ticket prices 30 to 40%.
If they pull that BS, then they can keep their 3D. Personally I really don't care if 3D makes it in the home yet or not.

Toknowshita, you made some VERY valid points. The whole EDID situation has been the bane of many enthusiasts' existence in recent years. (Just ask a lot of early 805 owners with legacy Panasonic projectors, for instance.) So yes, that could indeed throw a monkey wrench into the whole thing.
I fear you may be correct regarding the studios and what they may have planned regarding BD SKUs. And if so, consider me among those who'll be sitting it out as well. I doubt we'd be alone...especially in this sucko economy.
