Band of Brothers - Page 8

I had planned on picking up BoB when it comes out next Tuesday, but now I'm wondering if I should wait in case BB issues another 10% coupon between now and Christmas.

Has it been BB's custom to issue dvd coupons this time of year?

Where are Canadians buying BoB from? The cheapest I can find it in Canada is $80. Even with our crappy dollar and shipping it is cheaper to get it from Amazon.com.

Mine is out for delivery from WHV as well.

A few minutes later, a knock on my door and I have it in my hands!

Too bad I am tired and watching Rattle & Hum. It will be a weekend movie.

I got mine delivered today also from Warner - shipped next day air via UPS. A pleasant suprise.

HAHAHA no no, as you can tell I don't post much.

Sorry about that. I can say it is pretty fantastic but not consistant. most of the times the picture is perfect and in some small parts here and there tons of I want to say NOISE, digital noise not grain. Like the part with David Shwimmer[SP?] when he is in the office of the big boss sipping on a glass of whisky with the fireplace, the whole time from when he walks into the room it's just a really I want to say S*itty picture, takes you right out. but most other parts are just fabulous. Sound is up there.

In the second episode, the bass seems better than the dvd transfer so far, but i cant be certain. Theres also the better definition of explosions in general.

i KNOW the picture is way way better, in terms of color and clarity of course. At $55 this is a no brainer... BUY. IT.

Yeah, that scene with Schwimmer looked terrible on the HD DVD imports as well. My BD set should be here tomorrow from WB,just got the email with tracking info.

I received my copy yesterday without any notice. UPS had left it at my front door. I was disappointed when I opened the box and found a large dent on the bottom of the metal case, and two small dents on the front!!

I got mine yesterday, and my shipping confirmation came in late last night. I think I pretty much always get my packages before the shipping emails!

If you're expecting something, keeping an eye on myexpresscheckout.com is the way to go.

Got mine yesterday as well from WHV. Oddly enough, the discs arrived yesterday and the shipping email came today?

Yeah, I had finally figured out how to check shipping status with myexpresscheckout late last night and about an hour later got a shipping confirmation email from WHV. It looks like it's out for delivery today.

Going back and watching this 7 years later, it's funny to see it littered with people who were unknown (at least in America) at the time. I re-watched Episode 1 last night and was surprised to see Simon Pegg and Jason O' Mara. And I remember that James McAvoy is in several episodes.

HBO is excellent when it comes to discovering (or sometimes rediscovering) talent.
Can't wait to hear from someone who has received it from Amazon!

Got mine today. Not sure why Warner didnt just ship it out a few days earlier instead of using 1 day overnight.

I havent seen most of the episodes since they were originally aired on HBO, so I'm looking forward to watching a few tonight and tomorrow.

I remember this part in particular had lots of grain in it, even on the dvd. I assumed it was a mix of the visual style (BoB has tons of grain) and the fact that it was a low light filmed scene. Darkish room with dark colors and a fireplace? Yeah, I'd expect it to be grainy too. Although I should say I've never seen BoB in HD so I could be off. Looked like grain to me.

Got my e-mail last night, package this afternoon.

I am interested in hearing what people think of this release vs. the Japanese HD DVD. I wonder if it's the same transfer.

[insert happy noises here]

I just finished watching the first two episodes. And just like the first time, I'm still in awe.

Audio and Video quality are top notch as well. When they attack the German Battery, I could feel the guns in my chest
post #235 of 595
I've never had this happen with my system, but there are several scenes in the first episode that caused my speakers to pop. Specifically, the scenes featuring heavy propeller noise. Hardly what I would expect from B&W S805s. Like I said, this is a first.

Has anyone else experienced this?
I received my copy as well yesterday and watched the first episode. I didn't notice any popping in my speakers and I had it turned up to a pretty high level on my receiver.

I must say after watching the dvd of this a couple times previously the blu-ray looks fantastic. It's reintroducing my appreciation of this series all over again. I can't wait to get to Episode 6 "Bastogne".

I am. So. Looking. Forward. To. This. Title.

I could've swore somebody posted specs in the BD Specs thread which showed it was not the same encode, but I can't find the post.
