OK, a few weeks ago, my plasma set randomly stopped displaying anything over the HDMI port.
The original source, my Verizon STB, would display approx 3 seconds worth of perfect HD video/audio, the screen would flash bright green, and then go black (audio stayed on). I proceeded to replace the STB and HDMI cable, and still the problem persisted.
I then hooked it up to the HDMI on my Xbox360, and popped in a DVD. Low and behold, I now get the message "Secure HDCP link not found"....
DOH!!
So now what!? The TV is well beyond the warranty, and most of the pioneer technicians I'm calling don't really know why it would do this. Pioneer themselves, and a few technicians, have stated that I might need to get the entire circuit board replaced...
DOH AGAIN!
My question: Has anyone seen/heard of this happening? If so, what was needed to fix the problem?
If it comes down to $1000 repair, I'm not quite sure it's worth it for a 2 yr-old 1080i TV when I can pick up shiny new, bigger, 1080p LCD's for only a few dollars more.
Advice? thanks ahead of time...
EDIT: Component video works just fine, but the picture is noticably worse than HDMI.
