First of all, I'm new here, and so far I find this forum as a great source of information. I was looking for information on HTIB that will cater well to a PS3 and an Apple TV. I read that the PS3 will only do true surround through HDMI and not the optical link. Is that true? If so, that cuts my choices down a lot.
My budget is around $600 or less. I live in an apartment, so I don't need a show-stopper. I'm looking for something that sounds nice when watching Blu-ray movies and while playing games. The Onkyo HTIBs looked nice, but I only saw one model that had did audio through HDMI without the need for the optical link. I would love something that is SIMPLE and WORKS. I just don't get the point of having HDMI but audio won't go to the surround sound speakers.
I also looked one of the Sony soundbars. I wouldn't mind it as long as it worked with an Apple TV also. If you have any tips or ideas, feel free to share them. I wanted to order something by next week.
