OK, I'm back. Somewhat. Not can I not log in fomr wokr, but my DSL has been down for a couple of weeks so I finally went with a cable internet package. The guy just left. Comcast says 16mg download, I'm testing at 32. The faster to heckle you posers.

And believe or not, I've been REALLY busy at work, trying to do the impossible, so I didn't have tiem to be checking via phone, either. Late Thursday, we merely accomplished the nearly impossible and declared victory, so I should be able to in check a little more often.

NOT that I've actually accomplisehd anything since last posting. And now I'm off to go down there and do some work.

Well I can see that switching ISP providers enables you to post faster, but has not improved your typing or spelling skills!

Glad to see your back at it, for a moment I was worried I was catching up and even threatening to pass your progress mark. Whew! Crisis averted.

really thought I'd have an update pic. Working on back bar shelf inset under stairs. Used every scrap of lumber I had and still came up 1 2x4 short. And that's NOT what she said!

I hear ya! Every time I toss a 2X4 scrap I need it the very next week!

how does this happen? I go to HD to by the the one stinkin' $2.78 2x4 and it ends up costing $52.01 with all the other crap that jumps into the cart.
TAKE A LIST! If it's not on the list, don't buy it!

Works like a champ....would have worked better for me if I would have followed it much earlier on in my build! It also forces you to think ahead and do some planning. Again, THAT would have worked so much better for me if I would have done more of it earlier in the process!
CJ, you must be from another planet....NEVER have I got just what I needed....
Another planet...that's a good one! Somtimes it feels that way!

I did find that I was spending too much for stuff that I thought I needed, so I started writing a list and shopping from the list. It has forced me to think about the next phase of the project, plan out the items that I need, and get them all in one trip. Before I would make multiple trips in one day. I've largely stopped that.

I got to thinking about the numer of trips I make to Big Orange/Blue to get a phase done. I've been at this for nearly 3 years. My trips are in the hundreds!

I hear you on the multiple trips, it's 7 miles to Lowes from my house and I hate when I forget something. I usually wait until the next day and stop by on my way home from work.

You are that close to the MB location? I go up there from time to time when the Winchester Lowe's is out of something. I'm 2 miles exactly from the Lowe's in Winchester (the old one by HD). I have made 5 trips to the store in one day before!

I've made 3 in a day for a plumbing proj. After that, I'm with Randy....it'll wait until the next day.
I don't work fast enough to need to make more than one trip a day...
Ok,
CJ is making progress.
Big is on to 2.0.
Logan is... well Logan is Logan...

Where are the rest of you??? I have been a bit stalled but with hockey season over I think there is a glimpse of hope.

I think we need to take roll call. Don't make me come find you.

Edit... Ok, Michael (aka Chiahead) gets a pass as I have seen quite a bit of progress there.
I'm still creeping along. I've missed ..... I don't know... 6 dates so far?

I won't be done by my 2 year Loganing anniversary, either!

Trying to find my way out of Dimension X!!!

Riser back in place-Check
Dricore back in HT-Check
Front stage curved step rebuilt and re-carpeted-Check
Salvaged rug between riser and stage re-installed-Check

Stilll to do:
Re-install lower wall panels and build those lagging 4 upper wall panels in the front of the screen wall.

Decide what to do with the rest of the basement flooring. To Dri-Core or Not To Dri-Core that is the Question!

Door trim and casing for the HT Door.

Link to the list of all of those build threads maintained by those deemed LOGANED. HEY! If there's one thing I learned after 20 years in IT, it's never do it twice if you can do it once. Two. Two Things. Never do it yourself if you can get someone else to do it for you. I'M not maintaining that list. It would take time from my build.

Who's this funston dude and why do I have to wait for him to be finished before I can finish?

I LOVE Logan....I didn't realize I was a hero (where's my medal)? From the citation: "For insight far beyond mere mortals"

You say you have only just begun (not that there's anything wrong with the Carpenters music, mind you), but is it your wish to stop so soon by being LOGANED?

I can do it. I really can. And I will. I'll do it. I'll squeeze you so hard Karen Carpenter will look fat. Just ask ANY of the other losers around here.

You read up on the WHOLE thread, buddy boy, and then come back when you think you're ready. You newbie nose pickers annoy me. Yeah YOU. I'm talking to YOU.

HEY! Look who's back!

Actually have an update, too. With PICS! IT may not look like much, but, well, you know.

Roughed in the built-in shelf behind the bar. This was WAAAAaaaayyy harder than it should have been. I was pretty sure that I actually planned the framing to accomodate this, but I had a really hard time finding studs (that's what SHE said) so it took a lot longer. Anyway....

Got the false soffit on the screen wall framed.

Screen wall with framed soffit.

And yes, I did MOST of the work. Mike, my buddy from work, had nothing better and came over to hang out and help out. But I did most of the work.

So, as I said, on Saturday Mike comes by with his truck. We go to HD to pick up some lumber and drywall. I HAVE a list:

4 sheets Drywall
8 2x4s
Mechanical carpenter's pencil (to replace the one the dog chewed - if you haven't seen these they're really cool and only cost $2)
lawn and leaf bag holder-opener
and the couple of things I picked up along the way looking for the lawn 'n leaf thingy.

Get home, haul everything in, get to work. Get ready to hang the inside edge (the ladder) of the soffit, I don't have screws long enough (that's NOT what she said). Too late to go back, it was Miller time. Literally...a couple of MGDs and NY strips on the grill, and there was NO more work to be done.

So Sunday I go back with my new list:
Screws
old work box

Hmmm, list, no list, STILL making far too many trip to HD.

Thanks Mike! I got SOMETHING done anyway.
Seriously Tom, you have a HD so close to you that you could have put the strops on the grill, been there and back and the strips would still be rare.

Me thinks you been golfing too much.

Seriously, it was so hot this weekend they would have been well done on the way there. IWISH it was too much golf.

Now, a couple of questions:

1) My plan was to insulate anddrywal the sofft. lt occurs to me that there MAY be a benefit to only srywall the visible part (from the front back to the actual screen wall whihc will be 2ft from the back wall) and leaving the rest of the bottom open as additional bass trap. Yay or nay?

2) The plan calls for filling in between the soffits with a frame area to hold the three cans for the screen wash effect and to mimic the curve of the stage. That will be 7" (the soffits are 11"). What is the likelyhood of that interfering with screen/projector placement? Am I at the point that I need to buythe projector and (yikes!) hang it to get the actual screen size/location?

3) Am I creating a triple leaf with this entire screen wall design (DWFC on clips - insulation - 5/8 DD + GG, insulation - 1/2" drywall)?
Nice work, Mr. Logan.....so, you hire a photographer, and he/she takes a pic of you working (posing with a pointy screw gun), on the hottest day so far and I see, purty hair and no sweat stains... Yeah, Mike prolly goes by the nickname of Jose from 7-11. Put some pants on those drumsticks.....Poser....
