Need motivation? Get "LOGANED" - Page 2

Maybe I didn't NEED to, but it made me feel better. As near as I can figure, that smoke detector is the end of the line and all in the house are interconnected (via 14/3). The smoke detector is not grounded, so there was nothing to terminate the ground in the plastic box, so I swapped it and grounded the wire to the metal box.

OK, you're on...You've been LOGANED!

But since I have no plans to "fish" my HT, I'm not sure how we'll decide who wins. And besides, I have the drywall lift.

If I don't even have my house yet would it be foolish to get in on this? I am closing later this month and won't have any money for materials for quite some time. Eh, I could still beat some of you. Hell, my Logitech remote is already programmed for my equipment.

Sales at the Sterling HD will show a significant increase now that Tom is building up a full head of steam.

FINALLY! A REAL man steps up!

BF, you have chutzpah. I HATE chutzpah. But I like you anyway.

You've been LOGANED!

I'm still waiting for the rest of you girlie-men out there.

Yeah, maybe then they can afford more than one cashier.

I don't know Big, you've been doing a lot of notTheaterBuilding today....
Is this contest exclusive to east coast builds?

I have to build the entire house and am only at framing stage, but I am pretty confident I can beat you.

What do you say, can I play too?

Spent the last three hours hanging corner bead in the main part of the basement. Lots of corner bead to go....

You think it's slow when you're still on electrical...let me tell you buddy, it's really slow doing the drywall finishing.

Glad to hear you're back at it!

Oh, a copycat, huh? BFausta doesn't even own his house yet and now you are building one. You think this is a game? Let me see a picture of YOU with a nail almost in your foot ALMOST really getting hurt, really bad.

Game on, buddy.

Is that before or after you went prancing around the orchards and got hit in the head with an apple? OOOooo...look at me....I'm in Winchester...we have apples....and Shendandoah University (formerly Shenandoah College and Conservatory of Music...."where the women are women, and most of the guys are too").
LOL. Sounds as though you have some experience in the "most of the guys are too" department, but I digress.

Please...please can I get LOGANED too? I need a some time off...

My turn, my turn....Loganate me

Ok, I never started a build thread that was another thing that I would have to add to the list. I told Dave (dcpilgrim) I don't know how you guys keep everything going as well as keeping everything in the thread updated, not enough hours in the day. If I did start a build thread it would probably be titled "Breaking the rules Theater build"

The details, I started my build in Jan. 07 thus far I have completed the following:

Framing, I am not using staggered stud or rsic clips etc....just standard framing. When I purchased my home the framing for 3 of the exterior walls in the basement had already been framed and insulated. So I had to frame up the theater wall, mechanical room wall the last remaining exterior wall which is side facing the garage. I also framed a half wall and door underneath the steps coming down for equipment and a seperate closet for electrical panel and water meter. During this process we had some heavy rains in Spring, this led to the discovery of cracks in the foundation wall in two sepeate areas. My builder being none reponsive had to be taken to small claims for recoup of the repair costs.

Electrical, ran all the wiring, receptacles, lighting fixtures. My room width is eleven and half feet so I'm not doing sconces. I have 8 recessed 4"cans.

HVAC a friend helped me complete this, last summer-fall. Seperate Cooling unit, additional heating zone on boiler for forced hot air.

Sheetrock in theater room done. Single layer 1/2" densarmor. No dounble drywall, green glue or the like. Pleasantly when I had the Supebowl party in a still under construction setup with about 20 people in the room and sound blasting, another guest came and said if she didn't know I was completing the basement she would have never known we were down cause is was so quiet.

Riser done, then re-did to raise an additional 3.5 inches. Stage done loaded with sand. Both stage and riser decoupled. Dricore in HT room done. Walls primed ceiling painted. I wanted to prime the walls incase I didn't do fabric panels and simply to seal the walls. Primed with grey tinted Kilz2 actually looks pretty good as a color. I have since obtained Dazian cloth (thanks Dave) and have to fomulate some wall panels.

I'm doing 4x6 star panel inside of the 8 recessed can area. Panel is done, ceiling frame is done. Need to install and surround with crown and trim.

The rest of the basement is an open area in the process of being sheetrocked.

Need to finish:

Sheetrock-Mud & Tape
Prime and paint this same area
Dricore the rest of the basement
Install doors on mechanical room, equipment closet, electrical closet
Finish pocket door (yes I said pocket door, look at what I would name build thread for reference!!) and surround for home theater room which is located at the front of the theater room. I am doing everything I can to help insulate the hollow cavity.
Install cabinets for kichenette area and perhaps a concession/bar counter.
Install engineered laminate flooring outside of HT and carpeting inside of theather and stairs coming down.
Install drop celing in rec room and gym area(theater room has sheetrock) along with recessed lighting trim and in ceiling speakers.
Setup pool table, and wall mountd LCD.
Finish projector shelf/soffit enclosure and setting up equipment
False wall, cloth frames, screen frame

Not sure what else I'm missing but this post is long enough, now I need to be Loganated by the Loganator so I can be done by the end of summer with everything...

LOL. I agree. I fear I'll never get done with drywall. It feels like those Duncan Donut commercials...."gotta make the donuts". Gotta do the drywall....

Anyone else want to get LOGANED? Come on. I double dog dare ya!

To quote Bob Barker in Happy Gilmore, I don't want a PIECE of you, I want the whole THING!

Let's do this. I like this new Logan I'm seeing. I've got extra motivation now - just reserved the POD for all the girlfriend's stuff to sit in while I finish the theater and she patiently waits to move in. Not sure how long the old HOA will like a POD sitting in the street, but it's permitted through the county and it's a county-owned road. I'm even less sure about how long the lady will appreciate her stuff on the road. heh...
I don't see how I can post in my thread progress pics and not join in the fun. I'll take the Logan challenge. Right now I'm working on furring strips and acoustical treatments. I have fabric, half of my berklines and my Grafik Eye in hand. Sconces are on the way and cable should arrive today.

YEAH, YEAH, YEAH. You talk tough now...wait til the woman moves in. Your stuff will be in the POD and you'll be taking bubble baths so fast it will make your head swim. And I'll be watching the Superbowl in my finished theater with my MEN friends while you're still asking for permission to come to the next meet.

You really shouldn't be calling you girlfriend names like "the old HOA" until AFTER she moves in.

Goodnight ladies!

Nice... maybe if you spent as much time on your theater as you spent coming up with these witty retorts, you would win this challenge of yours.

By the way - this thread is the opposite of your "thread ender" moniker!

Double bonus!

I get to NOT be the thread ender for a change AND I get to humilate the rest of you prentenders.

No one make any progress last night? I took a night off to sub in a band rehearsal...thought I could give you a headstart. Looks like I was right.

I got build plans for the weekend...you guys better have some, too.

No progress here. I played cards with the guys and won more money to pour into the theater. I'll have progress this weekend to report. I have a whole pile of furring strips just ready to be nailed to the wall.

So you're a betting man, eh? carboranadum says he's still taking odds on Big.

Talk is cheap, girly-man.

an aside...most memorable gambling line from a movie (OK it was a TV, movie, but still)...The Over the Hill Gang...

Chill Wills is in an old West poker game and after all the betting, 7 aces show up.

"I'm not one to squabble over the rules, but...seven aces in one deck....that's a LOT of aces."

Well there are certainly alot of aces in this thread! though I'm not sure "aces" is the correct spelling...

I haven't even started *looking* for a new house and I bet my home theatre is built before yours...

I'm rubber, YOU'RE an ace.

And you made me chuckle, not LOL, but chuckle. You've been LOGANED AND you're a chucklehead. And I WILL beat you!
I'll take the "challenge", I'm..................4 years into my build and still going strong, I did begin a build thread a short while ago, my problem is too many other distractions, like finishing a complete 1,200 sq ft basement while I also learn/do a HT, and handling 3 young kids in the process, this should be a fun challenge.
