Need motivation? Get "LOGANED" - Page 4

I went to a pretty typical suburban HS in South Jersey. Something less then 200 in the graduating class. About 90% still live within 20 miles of the school. About 10 years after I graduated, the State Police tried to run one of those "21 Jump Street" stings. The undercover guy quit early because he said he couldn't find ANY drugs and that it was the cleanest school he'd ever seen. He obviously wasn't looking in the right places. However, when I was there, the drinking age had been lowered to 18, so beer was EVERYWHERE. I was MUCH more interested in partying than studying. I was in the AV club and my jock friends used to laugh at me, BUT, we used to make a beer run in the afternoon and spend study hall behind the closed stage curtain and get a pretty good buzz. And we had keys to the entire school. Next meet, ask me, and I can tell some stories....

And Oh yeah, Kelly Rippa went there (long after I was gone). There's something about a South Jersey girl I've never seen anywhere else.

No major updates for me.

Just got to joint compound 5 inside corners and clean up the work area.

Ask me if worried though...

You had BETTER be worried...the last 5% takes 95% of the time. Just ask Big.

I too got done what I set out to do this weekend - that is I finished up with the furring strips and as much of the acoustic treatments as time allowed. I'll post pics and details in my thread a little later.

Tom:

If that's true, hopefully your life expectancy permits you to actually finish the remaining 60% that you have in front of you.

Hmmmmm...you guys are talking pretty bold here. Talk is cheap.

CJ -
My life expectancy is being shortened everytime I have to listen to all of you LOGANED guys' lame excuses for not getting anything done.

John -
I don't know...you came up with that like you know from experience.

And I'll STILL be waiting for that premiere of the Arbour Oak Cinema. What's on the menu again?

Wow, all I needed was to get "LOGANED", got a little done this weekend.

First, we all should post cheesy picts of us in our un-completed HT's, to see who we are competing against, here's my mug, yea don't laugh I got a 5 year old DVD player hooked up to my PJ with a Dewealt as my sound system. Keeps the kids busy as I work:

My progress:
a) "almost" finished with the stair hallway, cut carpet to size, bought tack strip, laid it out, bought pad cut it, cut all my 1 x 6 pine base board, cutting the stair 1 x 10 base board took some trial/error to make look right, got that done also. Trimming the door frame started.
b) next weekend finish image;stain all 1 x 6 and 1 x 10 pine board, tape pad, stretch carpet over tack strip, install all baseboard. Carpet/baseboard done, trim door both sides RH/LH/top. Measure/cut/stain/install.
All sounds so easy and quick when typing...........

Almost forgot, I'm having my wife paint in the HT room during this week, the walls will be a dark green on all sides, the ceiling is a dark brown (this goes with our log home). Does that mean my wife gets "LOGANED" also because she's part of my part time crew??
(after all, this is the "HT design and construction" forum, not a basement DIY forum, I know.....)

"Cheesy" is right. There's not enough in cheese in Wisconsin to cover that mug. My wife is FROM Wisconsin and she says there hasn't been enough cheese in Wisconsin to cover that mug since Vince Lombardi left town.

NO, your wife can't be LOGANED. Otherwise, I'd have to LOGAN every day laborer any GC in the entire country hires.

At risk of ruining my reputation, nice job on the carpet. Brave man. But you've got a looong way to go.....it ain't over til it's over.
Are we still loganing? I think it's just what I need! I am not sure if I have enough left, but the way I am going I think it is plenty to finish up. Man, I should never have hung my projector.... And bought seats...

Are you man enough to take me on to?

So, here is my todo list...
Start a build thread.. ( been working on this 4 years come june )
Finish plumbing my bathroom ( install sink, toilet, shower glass, hang mirror )
Build real shelves to hold my equipment for HT
Program my insteon scenes to be keyed with my remote
Install blinds ( damn daylight keeps ruining my movies )

My theater is fully functional, so that should give you plenty of lead time on me, as I really have no motivation to finish up.... Movies look so goooooooooooood! Oh and spring is coming, so it's time to get outside and do stuff!

WE? What you mean "WE," Kimosabe?

To ALL you Wannabes out there: Let me makes this perfectly clear. Read my lips. I do the LOGANING around these parts. Yeah, that's right. ME. This is MY territory. You want action, buddy? You got it. And let this be a lesson to the rest of you.

mastiff34, YOU'VE BEEN LOGANED!

So did the gambling Gods take money off you to delay further your build or give you money so you can hire someone that knows what they are doing?

Sorry, Brit I missed this one.

Cost me about $75. My buddy ended up with something over $200. I told him it would have been easier if just gave him the money and stayed home.

I would sign up to get Loganed, but I have no chance. I can't even start until I get my no-job-brother-in-law out of my basement. Well, seeing as you can't even get in a full weekends work, maybe I should sign up.

As for what those high school drop outs can do??? Have you seen the construction industry? You think there is much of an education there???

My neighbors ask me how I learned to do the stuff to my house I have done, and I ask them did you ever hear of reading? Look at the workers in our new neighborhood, you think they are the top of their graduating class?

And just so you know Carb, graduating in the top 23 of a class of 23 is really not bragging...

Are you sure it's not "chickenhead?"

BFausta doesn't even own his house yet and funston is building his and THEY stepped up.

Here's a little free, pre-LOGAN advice: Go watch Failure to Launch and come back when you're ready to play with big boys. Yeah, that's right. I said it. Now go do it.

Yes, but to get a construction job around here, you have to have come from the same home town as the crew chief and speak Spanish.

*Update* I bought blinds @ lowes today, I might actually get something done, I like this new motivation... Or maybe it's because the light is ruing my movies on a Saturday afternoon with the kids...

I think the bulk of the drop outs meet that criteria...

Did I just say that.... Yep, I did, and for the record my spelling sucks!

So does mine, download and install ieSpell. It will add a spell check icon to the reply dialog box.

Shame it does not check your grammar

[EDIT] Hey - no cheating and changing

I need some motivation. All I can get motivated to do at this point is watch movies. I have this giant list of seemingly small items. Problem is, I'd have to stop watching movies to do it.

Here's a partial to-do list:
Install trim, build and install the hushbox and exhaust fan, build and install the door on the back of the rack, finish the rack shelves, take the room door back off and spray it in the garage, re-install the door, lockset and jamb gasket, paint and install the HVAC supply and return diffusers, buy and install track lighting, dress the rack properly with cable management, and finish designing and programming the AMX controller.

There's a couple things I'm forgetting, but that's the bulk of it. That's pretty much been the to-do list since last May. Yes, LAST May... as in 2007.

So, yeah - I think I could use some motivation.

Whoa hoss. Where did you get that tripe? I never said my placement relative to the rest of my graduating class.

Not bragging about placement. Don't know how you came to that conclusion.

Ha, Ha......I got a call in middle of posting.

Comes to something when the Loganator has us picking on each others spellings and grammar

We need to start lovin each other and putting the hatin on the Loganator. The man who purchased a drywall lift and by time he gets to use it drywall will be obsolete and we will likely be living in domes.

I'm in.
To do:
Post poorly exposed YouTube videos of crazy double wall situation for bpape - done.
Figure out what to do about can lights that I did not box in MDF because my electrician buddy told me I would burn my house down - todo:
Finish theater - todo:
Enjoy 'The Dark Knight' in my shiny new theater before Logan - todo:

Well, while all of you guys have nice, dry, warm basements to work in, I am working in this.

Can't complain too much. I am still getting more done than Logan and will be overtaking him shortly.
