After a few painfull days of cutting around 50 million gang boxes, shelfves, and server rack, I finally have the back, sidewall, and screenwall drywall completed.

I feel like such a dumbass for painting so many coats on the media storage shelves, since drywall dust has now coated them. Covered or uncovered, makes no difference, the white alien spores seem to infiltrate and coat everything.

I spend at least 35 minutes each day: sweeping, scrubbing with a stiff brush, and vacuuming before I get started. Once you step on the drywall dust, it is almost impossible to easily clean it up, so I recommend you make cleaning it up a daily activity.

Christmas sucks...Part 2

So it is a friday, I decide to have lunch with my friend Steve (suspended mancard). Steve is moving out west in a few weeks, so I wanted to take him to lunch and hang out. After a great lunch at a place called BD's Mongolian BBQ, we went to see if there was any decent movies playing. All of the movies suck or are chick flicks, so again my friend Steve tries to kick me in the nards...

"You know man, Nordstroms is right over there, you could get that jacket for your wife and be a hero.."

I acted like I got all pissed and yelled "DUDE, I am a hero every payday... why the hell would I want to get her that stupid jacket anyways?"

So we laughed and I agreed to at least go look at it.... and what happened next clearly justifies all of my previous complaints about my so-called "better half".

We strolled on over to Nordstroms and man that place is rich looking. I think my credit card started to get warm upon stepping foot in that place. As soon as we stepped foot in the door, there was a lady running over and askiing if she could assist me.

"Yes, can you point me to where the rediculously overpriced womens winter jackets are?"

She said "Haha...................*Looked me up and down*............. follow me."

We went up an escalator into the ladies outer wear, and some hot brunette greeted us.

"Hellooo! (way too cheerful) How can I help you?"

"Yes, my ex-wife said she had a rediculously expensive North Face jacket on hold, and I am here to see if you will just give to me out of the kindness of your heart.."

She laughed (might have been a fake laugh and probably had her finger on the security buzzer) and asked the last name, so I told her.

"Oh she is MY customer!!" She said, and I still don't know WTF that is supposed to mean.. then she got a funny look on her face and said:

"She is your EX wife?"

"She will be if she continues to shop for $300 jackets..."

She laughed (again, probably fake) and went to go get the jacket that was supposed to be on HOLD. (See Part 1 if you need a refresher)

The sales lady walked back over with a jacket, and set it down like the dang thing was made of gold. She checked a slip and then looked at me with a puzzled look and proceeded to try and tell me something was up by saying "Hmmm ... ummm"

I cut to the chase and said "What, did the price go up? I saw something like this on Dateline once..."

"No, it is just that, well....... she already paid for it"

So I asked her to gift wrap it (since it was free) and while she was off doing that, we looked at the receipt.. *%^$&^$%&^$&^%$^#&# my wife paid for it a WEEK before she even asked me for it!!!

NOW DO YOU FEEL MY PAIN/FURY/DEPRESSION???

I looked at my friend Steve (revoked mancard), the guy who got me into this mess, what does he have to say???

"Dude, that's messed up.."

Hahahahahahahahaahhahaah I can't win, ppl.

So I leave to go home, hot under the collar, but whatever, not much I can do about it now but try to surprise her with it in a few days and potentially get some lovin' out of the deal.

I go home and decide to hide the wrapped jacket someplace it would in no doubt be discovered until Christmas or sooner if I choose.... ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the ultimate hiding place in my house....

**And before anyone asks, the writing on the vacuum cleaner says the bag filter type is "F&G" not "FaG bags".

Coat Watch - Day 1 - Undiscovered
OK, so now the wife goes in to pick up the coat and they say they can't seem to find it so she buys another and starts wearing it but doesn't let you see it. Then Christmas rolls around and you bring out the coat, now you've had it for 60+ days and can't return it and the one she has been wearing has a small stain and can't be returned. So by the end of the year you will have bought her that coat twice.

Face it, we can never win.

Actually, I'm surprised it took this long for somebody to jump on my comments.

Hey, RT, us Hoosier's gotta stick together.

OK, Staffy, I see you picked up the coat. Since she paid for it, you are gonna have a tough time getting any points for that. Gotta come up with something else. Now, if you really want to chalk up points, buy her some diamond earrings and put them in one of the coat pockets. And, no, your wife did not bribe me to suggest that. Remember, I'm the single guy...always looking for an edge.

On the other hand, buy her some dish towels for Christmas and plan on taking a long vacation from her involvement in your life.

Today I am getting ready for the final push in completing all of the walls in the theater. I needed to mount a 2x3" stud over the entrance at the bottom of the stairs, this is where the final layer of drywall on the ceiling will attach to. The 2x2 vertical board is just to push it up flush as 2 days after buying it from Lowes, it has already started to twist.

I got half of the long wall completed... only 3.5 sheets remaining until all of the walls are complete!!!!

RT ROSE "Hey I take offense to the above statement. My wife is from Michigan and she is skinny, her mom is skinny, her is dad skinny, her brother and sister well I won't count them he is a typical beer drinking brother in law and my sister in law is in the family way. Her aunts and grandmothers skinny. Her cousins all skinny. You call my wife "stout" and you will have some serious problems on your hands!

In fact you better be glad my wife and her family don't read AVS or you might be in for one serious old fashioned Michigan butt whipping!!

Actually I'm just joking with you, but I felt compelled to defend my wife's honor along with all of the other Michiganders here on AVS.
"

BRAVO RT ROSE! A man on here that defends his wife and other skinny women. You've got 'a pair' and aren't afraid to post it an opposing position! You get points and probably would get a special thanks too, if your wife saw the thread... how cavalier!

Thanks for this comment from one skinny gal[/quote] LOL

In all fairness, my wife is a skinny Michigan girl too. All of her girlfriends hate her because she is skinny and and has no stretch marks... So I AM lucky on that part

See, I knew being skinny had it's downside.

Careful, Staffy, it looks like hanging around with your friend Steve has softened you up. You'll be back at Nordstrom's in no time. The hot brunette in ladies outerwear has set the hook.

Hey BB, Becareful yourself.... You are soundin pretty soft when you made that sweet suggestion for some ice in the coat pockets to mix it up and make it more interesting.

From a woman's perspective, I like that... too bad my guy doesn't read this forum (I am checkin out the theatre stuff for us) for the one idea that I appreciate and agree with on here. LOL.

Staffy must have just breathed in too much drywall dust or insulation fibers. The change in his oxygen levels made him 'level headed' for a split second and he had a slip of the tongue with a nice comment about his woman.

Staffy... you never said what she said about the coat and your gettin it 4 her.

Oh the hilarity! Staffy, Nordstroms has very liberal return policies. I know from a similar fiasco.

Be strong, and careful with the F&G bags...

LOL

My daughter busted me yesterday laughing out loud reading part 1... "What are you reading that is so funny???"

Part 2 is just classic. We just can't win. All that we can hope for is... is... is... ... ... .. well I just can't think of anything right now.

Some type of surprise in the pocket would be cool but being that it will never last until Christmas only means you would have to come up with something else for Christmas.

No one said marriage would be cheap.

You may need to type a little slower for toolmansgal... She seems to be having a hard time following along.

That sounds like a reason for some good window treatments.

Monotonous boring work tonight.... the lame work list included the following:
-Siliconing between concrete and footers
-Staple/nail pulling
-Cardboard template making
-Install last bit of insulation
- Marking studs on floor and ceiling
-Treating studs with Integrity Gasket

Picture of the remaining sidewall about 95% prepped:

**This is another phase where you bust your A$$ and it barely shows. Thank goodness I had a decent pair of kneepads. I had to remove them when my neighbor Mark came over because he makes me feel uncomfortable.. (Take that MARK).

Tonight my neighbor Mark came over and helped me hand the last 3.5 sheets of drywall, completing the walls.

The 3.5 sheets went up rather quickly, Mark is awesome at measuring the cutouts, I would say he is just as anal as me (if not more) about precision. To give you an example, my friend Chris (buttcrack page 1) tried to help me one day... he is happy with anything within 1/2" and it drives me insane, Mark, on the otherhand, always stresses to "measure from the same spot.." and strives for clearances less than 1/8".

Of course on the very LAST 2x3' chunk we had to put in, he did not listen to his own mantra and measured from each side, but after I yelled and threw the measuring tape at him, it was good enough, and I just had to screw with him some more

Side wall:

The work looks amazing, Staffy. All that busting a** will pay off later.

Sounds like your friend chis is a fan of the oversized wall plates, as they allow that much more room for error.

http://www.geartrade.com/item/61203 - used (no bullet holes though)- excellent condition at only 1/3 the price - i suggest you make the return to nordstrom

seriously thought, great thread - i can't wait to see what you do with the rest of the theater. question - that integrity gasket - any info anywhere on its benefits acoustically? realistic info i mean, not manufacturer claims.

Wow... it's almost done.. What is your projected done date? What's the 'girly' touches look like (carpet/paint/trim)?

Now you mean your wife has not found the coat after 5 days? You have to add something special and put it in the pockets.... save the coat til xmas.

Yeah - it is colder than $hit here i Michigan

I have some updates I will type up tonight. I am a few days away from the final layer of drywall on the ceiling with GG.

Already scheduled for a tape/mud guy to come give me a quote next week. Ordering some extra drywall sheets today in prep for this weekend.

blah blah 10x more tedious BS info I will type up tonight for you, my friend

I apologize for the delay in updates, work has been brutal with the hours and tomorrow I am on vacation until January 1... so fulltime construction shall commence!!

I scored Berklines!!!!!!

Thanks to Craigslist and people buying things they never use, I scored a set of 4 all leather, power recline, Berkline 45187's (Similar to 45090's) for $1000.

It took me and my neighbor Mark 2 trips to get them all in my Trailblazer and a 15 minute delay thanks to his crap GPS to get them.

Here are my new babies!

I plan on breaking them up into 2 rows of 2, possibly buying a 5th for the second row.

Christmas sucks...Part 3

So after 20+ days of waiting for my wife to stumble on her new North Face jacket that was hidden right beside the vacuum cleaner... I decided to move this along a little bit as I am impatient and really don't want to wait 4 months for her to find it

So this morning I figured I would give her a "gentle push". The night before they had movie night in my TV room and I found little bits of popcorn on the floor and cleaned it up.. but had an idea. When princess arose from a deep slumber.. I said:

"Hey, do you think you could vacuum up the TV room sometime today, there are popcorn bits everywhere.." figuring this would be the clue that would end this waiting game..

"Can't you do it?" she fired back..

"Not my mess..." I said, firing back.

"Sure..." she said in an obviously pissed snarl...

Now this unfortunate exchange pretty much screwed me all day from home cooked meals, so I accepted this outcome as I was sure she would be running down any minute, giving me a big ol' kiss and thanking me...

Today I realized 2 things:

1. I am a dumbass for trying to speed this discovery event up artificially.
2. I love my wife for moments such as the following:

In the afternoon, my wife had left the grocery list on the counter, so after a few hours of hellish glances and deep exhales... I figured I would try to have some fun with her...

So I grabbed a pen and added an item to the bottom of her list (item #7), then took the following picture:

So today, a week later when updating this thread and pulling pictures from the camera, I wondered why I had so many pictures of a stupid grocery list?!? I opened up the last one and started laughing my ASS off!

This is what I found: (Note items #8-#11)

Honestly, this made my day!

Well the day ended with no jacket, no lovin', and no food... *sigh*
