So when will we see a 1080P 58"+ plasma for under 2k?

I would really like to have a bigger TV but if I am going to dump my 42" 720P set Its going to have to be the mack daddy set. Atleast size wise.

I sit about 8ft from the screen so I think the 58" panasonic 720p set would be to low rez for that distance. But a 58" 1080P set would be just luvly at that distance. But alas the large 1080P plasma sets are way out of my price range.

When will we see a large 1080P plasma that is quality for around 2K? Heres hoping that the cost savings associated with the upcoming 10 Lumen Tech will drive the prices down to a reasonable level.

Vizio is comming out with a 60" 1080p for around $2500. It is supposed to be 30,000 to 1 contrast. I am waiting to see this before I decide what to do. I currently have a 50" Panasonic and would like to upgrade. My guess is the 60" will be on sale before the year is over and might hit $1999.

Yeah I looked at that but its only 720P and I think I sit to close for that set. Im afraid I would see the screen door effect.

Besides that besides just size im also holding out for deeper blacks so it will be a true upgrade all the way around. Perhaps there will be a good fire sell on the discontinued Kuro's?

What is the price for an LCD at 50" or more?

Would it be even more?

Although you'll definitely find some good sale prices come November (around black Friday) I don't think prices will drop to the same levels we've become accustomed to. Prices are slowly on the rise for just about everything and as long as fuel costs continue to rise then everything that requires transport will do the same.

It isn't fuel costs per se. Everything is up. (Try buying a dozen eggs lately?)

It's not because of oil. It's the declining dollar. The war, the mortgage bailouts, the economic stimulus -- all of those dollars are Monopoly money (e.g., printed not collected). The overseas manufacturers need real money to pay their costs, and prices will adjust accordingly.

If we're lucky, the prices of new sets will not go UP too much. Forget about significant price drops.

All of this may be a reason to continue to push prices lower. Regardless of economic conditions, manufacturers are relying on this year to ensure the success of the plasma market. It will be important for consumers to continue to purchase these sets at an affordable price.
