HD DVD review is out here. You can assume that the Blu-ray will look and sound identical.

Sorry, a noob question. There's no region coding with Blu-rays? I have a friend who's coming from London and owns a PS3. He didn't know if he could buy here to use at home?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-ray#Region_codes

Some Blu-ray Discs are region coded, check http://bluray.liesinc.net/ to see if your friend will be able to play the discs he buys during his visit on his Region B (Europe) PS3.

+ Positive:
-- Through Pleasure solid, very natural looking image which was hardly altered.
-- Especially close-ups offer a good value sharpness.
-- Generally good contrast, only a few scenes weaknesses.
-- Negative:
-- Image is partly to soft. Especially the shots suffer most under a slight fuzziness.
-- Basically too dark picture. Details will be lost.
-- Continuously are dirt particles can be seen, sometimes quite striking.

Anyone know where I can import [Rec] (if it's even region free)? I heard it's coming out in May on Blu-ray.

anyone know if optimum home entertainment is region free? they're releasing a couple horror movies soon (diary of the dead, all the boys love mandy lane, storm warning, new dario argento movie) and weinstein owns the rights in the US which means they'll probably never show up

edit: seems their other releases so far have been region locked, oh well

Would make sense, the film was probably sold to a number of different distributors overseas like the Fantastic Four, Ghost Rider, etc.

(4)日本語(ドルビーデジタル5.1ch) VWBS-1013 8,190円

=============
Impressions:

-At least Buenavista Japan were kind enough to lower the msrp...a bit...

-I'll leave it to the capable AVS members to tell us what extra goodies were included in the new edition

-although TrueHD and DTS MA were in 6.1ch instead of the LPCM 7.1ch,
this should potentially be a really good head-to-head-to-head comparison of all three HD audio formats, providing if they have use similar word lengths

-here is hoping that Bandai USA can take some of the encodes from this version in the US BD release...

in Germany:

The French film The Fox and the Child being released by Kinowelt Home Entertainment on July 11th.

In France:

Les Bronzes get a release in a standard edition on July 2nd.
The Rolling Stones concert The Biggest Bang will be released on Blu-ray May 26th.
Due to Warner owning the rights in Europe, there will also be a French release of Sweeney Todd.

Kinowelt is going to release various Blu-ray titles in Q4, including some that are already available on HD DVD (in Europe), but also many that are available neither on HD DVD nor Blu-ray (worldwide). Here's the list:

- Basic Instinct
- Cliffhanger
- The Constant Gardener
- Dances with Wolves
- The Deer Hunter
- Fight Club
- Leon
- Mr. & Mrs. Smith
- Rambo - First Blood
- The Fog [1980]
- Total Recall

I'm very curious about that. Let's hope the best.

I never would've thought these would be the first HD Wong Kar-Wai releases, but I'm really looking forward to "As Tears Go By" and "Days of Being Wild" - wish there were release dates!

Or an English dub?
