Blu-ray Imports (General discussion, announcements and retailers) - Page 3

Sorry for the newbie question, but these import sites that carry blu-ray....are these titles that aren't normally available here in the US? ..or are these sites just sites where you can get blu-ray titles ahead of time before they come out in the US?

Gear mentioned in this thread:

I would just like to recommend the french release of Dune (Lynch) on BD. Available now from Amazon France. The disc is all-region and subtitles are removable. The extras are encoded in 576p, though, and mostly in french with no english subs. A vintage interview with Lynch himself is i english.

I've never seen the HD DVD so I cannot compare the two or vouch for the PQ.

US Lionsgate, UK Sony, and Germany Warner? Seriously? I didn't know distribution was ever split further than US/North America vs international.

"International" could mean dozens of different markets and distributors. Especially on a movie like RAMBO which was bankrolled by a whole group of different financial outlets, not a major studio.

PhLoyd, You may want to state your source before announcing a big title like Finding NEMO. Also, Disney has made no official annoucements and why would it come out in the UK before the US when it is coming out in 2009.

IF you want a source for my statements you can always look in the Blog in my sig.

I don't link this directly since AVS is opposed to even linking to stories that contain affiliate links.

I guess it's Japanese/Engrish for the lenticular artprints.

Thanks Pimp. Was a bit of sticker shock when I figured out the pricing but I ordered it anyway. Might be worth something if in fact the figurines or whatever are limited to 2500. I know the US Box Set had different goodies in it compared to the Japanese one.
Anyone have any idea on whether the following UK Titles would be region free? I have them pre ordered to arrive all at once so I can cancel them if I find out earlier if they are locked: Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill Voi. 1 & 2. Buena Vista/Walt Disney titles.
Looks like most if not all Buena Vista UK catalogs have been region free so far.
Thanks I guess I'll stick with my pre orders then!!
les 400 coups blu-ray from amazon france. does anybody know if this is region free on blu-ray? they have the HD-DVD but its 36 euros which is way to much. id also like to get a few other titles which i know are region free. but if i could add this to my order it ould be great
post #87 of 1368
400 coups appears to be one in the early Criterion list. Might be worth waiting for it.
The current blu-ray appears to be region free. So I think I will still get the film. The criterion version will be more so I may get that version as well. As it will be some time before it comes out.
