Anyone having a problem getting Office Space to play?

I have the latest powerdvd (not the bundled version) and firmware for the LG hd-dvd/blu-ray drive and all powerdvd does is just sit there at a black screen.

I upgraded to Powerdvd Ultra 8 last night. Running:

Windows xp SP3
Radeon 4670 hdmi card
Denon 2809 receiver
Latest ATI HDMI drivers

I thought Powerdvd 8 would give me the hdmi/pcm option in the audio tab, but its not there. I only have 2,4,6,8,spdif options. Is the hdmi/pcm option only available with Vista? I contacted Cyberlink, but no response yet.
Yes, I am using Vista with both 4670 and 4650 and HDMI/PCM option is there.

I'm having no luck playing blu-ray iso files using build 2521 and Cat 9.1. Has anyone else experienced this?

I can't play iso's either. No hdmi option and I can only get the three front speakers when choosing 6-8 speakers.

*Edit - I couldnt play iso's with Daemon tools, but I can with virtual clonedrive.

Regarding my region code problem they asked me how many changes my Blu-ray drive has left. CL as a developer should know that Blu-ray region codes are not stored in the hardware but software only. I am speechless of the incompetence of the CL support desk.

Looks like they pulled the 2521 update...

You are a god-damn genius! I put in not one, but TWO tickets with cyberlink support about the keyboard and remote shortcuts not working when playing back blu-ray discs (but working while playing dvds) and they responded with the USELESS reply "PowerDVD doesn't support any remote but our own, now piss off before we mock you some more". Your fix WORKED. I should chargeback the price of powerdvd and paypal you the money. I asked them why their KEYBOARD shortcuts weren't working but because I mentioned I had a 3rd party remote they simply refused to answer my question.

Cyberlink is WORTHLESS.

still have issue with 2521
I meant that they removed the update from their site. It is no longer on the download page.
Exactly the same problem as Rathbone here, so I've gone back to 2217 for now, but I'm desperate to play 3:10 to Yuma, which doesn't work with this build.

Saying that, I've got no guarantee it'll work on the new build, but Cyberlink told me it would, and they wouldn't lie to me
post #1964 of 2309
Anyone have the 2217 file? My PDVD upgrade archives were corrupted on my WHS and I only have the most recent install file that cyberlink allowed me to re-download.
If only Slysoft makes a player that works with AnyDVD

They responded back to my second ticket where I demanded that they answer my question about their own keyboard shortcuts failing to work with blu-ray discs. Instead of giving me MHoefler's very simple solution they told me to remove powerdvd, download a tool from Microsoft, run the tool, then manually edit the registry to remove several powerdvd keys, download and install a new version and then a few more steps after that. What a hassle they would have had me go through... IF THAT EVEN WORKS

They told me the same procedure. I didn't think it would work, but I figured I'd try it for kicks. It didn't work. they just told me to try it again. I quit trying to even talk to them...

I did and there is no bloody change, it is STILL not registering the blu-ray codecs on Vista 64 bit. Don't install it.

I'm running PDVD 2217a (DVD081201-06), WinXP SP3 and using a Nvidia 8600GT (w/driver 178.24). I could of sworn that I was able to use PDVD color controls to adj. things like brightness in the past but now they don't seem to work. Can someone that uses PDVD's color controls confirm that it still works? In the Nvidia control panel, I have it set to adj. color with the player settings (I know I can use Nvidia to control color but I would like to use PDVD)...

It looks like the 2521 build breaks compatibility with reloaded. Anyone else experience this? I get an "internal error" message.

When I tried to use Daemon Tools to mount ISO file, I keep getting something like "Drive format not recgonized". That's not the worst part. It didn't let me revert back to 2217a. So I had to uninstall Power DVD Ultra 8, re-install the original version of Ultra 8 I bought last year, enter serial #, and finally upgrade to 2217a.

Don't get 2521. Disregard my earlier post when I said 2521 did not have any issues.

I'm using patch 2021a 50. When I used the more recent ones, I had weird issues like no more keyboard shortcuts (needed for my remote control) and losing Vista Aero enhanced support during Blu-ray/HD-DVD playback.

I havent had a problem with playing an of the bluray releases to this day. I always use the latest AnyDVD HD though.

I wouldnt recommend updating the patches unless something significant changes with Blu-ray disk specs (such as updates to BD-Live) which doesnt let you play back newer movie titles.
I was unable to play "Step up 2: the streets" (for my wife of course) with any of the older patches. I would get "no disc in drive", so I have to use 2521.
Hmmm... that particular one was available on Netflix OnDemand, I didnt rent that one via Blu-ray. I have gone through most of the new releases though thats not available On Demand. I know that when I had AnyDVD HD disabled, I wasnt able to play a couple of new disks. So, maybe AnyDVD does help?

Yeah, I thought of that also but no go. In any case, I can deal with it until a new patch comes out.

Side note: Has anyone gotten mutichannel PCM or DD out via HDMI with powerdvd? My reciever only sees PCM for some reason, and it's driving me nuts!
I can't believe Cyberlink has put in place a restriction on the minimum resolution to use to be able to start PowerDVD! That is one of the stupidest things I've ever seen, don't they have anything else for their developers to do? I don't know, fixing bugs in their H.264 decoder and enhancing compatibility with Blu-ray titles would be a start...

First this restriction is stupid even for DVDs because you could perfectly output full screen to a SDTV in 720x480/576. Second, it's even more stupid because they consider 1280x720 to be inferior to 1024x768... hello Cyberlink, we're in 2009 and screens are 16/9 !
And of course the stupidest part is now people can't play Blu-rays on their 720p TVs. I bought a Blu-ray reader with my new system, and I have a CRT which is running at 720p, guess they don't want Blu-ray to gain market share after all...

Idiots...

I'm getting Multi-Channel PCM on mine. My receiver is the HK AVR354 with the audio going through the DVI/HDMI of the ASUS EAH4830 video card. I have the latest Cat 9.1 drivers, ATI HD HDMI 2.13 (or was that 2.09?) drivers from Realteks site and the Realtek HDMI Audio 2.15 codec. I set the ATI HDMI out to 5.1 through the config on the sound settings in Windows, set Win7's MC to 5.1 for MC media and set HDMI out in PDVD8's settings with PCM for my HD content and I'm getting full Multi-Channel PCM now out to the receiver.

Win 7? Might not work for me but ill give your driver setup a shot...

Got it... not sure if it was switching from ATI's supplied HDMI audio driver or reatek's, but Dolby Digital just switched on as soon as I enabled S/PDIF output in Powerdvd. I guess S/PDIF is the mechanism by which the audio is transferred via HDMI?

Now if only I could get VLC or MPC to work proberly with 5.1...
