Well, for some reasons, some people ripped their CD collections into digital copy for easier access. And for some reason, people who can't get the original CDs (no longer in production or what so ever reason), they got the Monkey Audio version.
Since Monkey Audio format is a lossless format, there is a chance to either convert the ape files with cue sheet into FLAC (for hardware player eg, SqueezeBox, Tvix or PopcornHour) or reproduce the original CDs. Nevertheless, most of the Monkey Audio available are in 1 huge single files instead of individual tracks. So we need to split them based on the cue sheet provided.
What would the be tools you would recommend? *freeware of course*
To split the APEs, I found Medieval CUE Splitter.
Once I have the individual tracks in APEs, I can use MP3 Audio Converter to convert them into FLAC. However, it's not a freeware.
I have yet to convert the FLAC back to audio CDs as FLAC is more than enough for me at the moment.
I believe there are quite a lot of you guys also taking the same path, just wondering what's the better tools out there
