Meantime, make sure you don't miss our April 11 episode (that's next Friday). It's our biggest GTTV yet. We will have SEVEN world exclusives in the show in high-definition! We'll show you the Duel Mode in the Force Unleashed for the Wii, but we also have something special from our friends at Insomniac Games and Sony Computer Entertainment.

More news on Monday when details on the show hit this very site. Have a good weekend.

Resistance 2?! Quest for Booty? I'm not getting my hopes up though. They've over-promised and under-delivered before. It airs on Spike BTW.

Reminder bump. It's tonight at midnight EST on Spike. It should also show up on Gametrailers.com a little while later.

Keep in mind it's a teaser so there probably won't be any gameplay. But Insomniac did say that part of the plot would be revealed along with a date when we'll get to see more.

No gameplay? Boooo!
I'm interested. I hope they can release the game by this holiday season.

Insomniac is pretty good about deadlines and are still able to maintain high quality. I think a month ago I heard a lot of the technical stuff of R2 was already done (maybe multi-player portion).
Actually, I don't think Insomniac has ever missed a deadline.

The one time that they sorta missed a deadline was when someone at Sony announced RCF was coming out before the actual deadline that Insomniac had set.

honestly, i'm more excited about the next r&c game than i am about this. tod was awesome. they'll need to bring a lot to the table in order to dethrone cod4. it can't just be another shooter.

As far as online framework is concerned, RFOM was never dethroned. IW should take a few notes. If you wish, I could list out the things that are better about RFOM's online structure. I'm pretty sure you dont need me to though, COD's interface is very rudimentary. If it wasn't for the awesome gameplay, no one would bother with dealing with lack of online features.

And I agree. RFOM 1.5 wont cut it, they need to bring significant enhancements to the table, which I dont doubt they will.

$.02

i would say its already bringing a lot to the table. its got 2 separate campaigns to play through, 1 of them being an 8 player co-op. and if the engine quality increases in the manner it did when going from Resistance to Ratchet and Clank then i have no doubts that the game will be top notch.

It's here early! Now I don't have to watch the whole crappy show.

It'll be a while before we see gameplay.

What they show certainly is pretty though. I wonder if it's generated with the game engine? The cutscenes in RCF seemed to be. What about R:FoM?

Could be rendered using in-game assests but prettied up a little with better lighting and AA. That's what they did with Ratchet and maybe R:FOM.

That has to be in game.. there's tearing under the bridge and at the water level of the cityscape. But with all that stuff going on

Thanks! That wasn't too much footage was it?

I had no tearing either streamed or downloaded. Lots of aliasing on the bridge and city, but those could also be re-sizing artifacts if the original source video was not 720p.

One would guess Sony has learned their lesson about not using game footage. I think they also learned the trick from MS that you can use in-game assets and the game engine but not as the game would look while playing (Halo 3 teaser) and get away with it.

Well, the word on the street is that even though this may be a "cutscene," Insomniac never shows anything not created with the game engine, and they did say that R2 was going to be as much of an improvement over RCF as RCF was over R:FoM, so apparently this is "for real."

They also said they expect to make similar leaps "for the next few years."

Edit: Just to clarify, gameplay probably won't look quite this good, but damned near. Kind of like replay mode in Gran Turismo.

Holy good graphics batman!

serversurfer: I see what you are saying. With that in mind it is indeed some impressive in-game tech.

The original resistance had in-game cutscenes that launched straight into gameplay with little visual differences. Hopefully this is an example of that.
lighting and texture quality appears to be much better than the first. i have no doubt this game will look way better than RFoM considering it was Insomniacs first game on the PS3 and it was a launch title.
Awesome. I did notice the tearing or whatever under the bridge on the left, but other than that...wow. Can't wait.
Great opening sequence. You can see the similarities between it and R&C (same engine). Can't wait to see the gameplay (day after MGS4 releases).
That was cool as hell. Can't wait for this title.

those types of phenomenon are not localised in such a manner. the lower third of the screen should have been out-of-sync if tearing was present
post #30 of 39
^^^that's because it isn't there. it's some kind of a shadow on the base of the bridge. regardless, it's a good year to own a ps3, that's for sure.
