Neopro Avalon 8x8 video matrix

I have tried to study this system for a week now. With no luck in finding my answer. My question is how do I control my centralized components from each zone if there is only one IR insert on the neopro avalon video matrix 8x8? Can I use any old learning remote for my zones? This has been driving me nuts with trying to figure it out on my own. If someone has so advise please respond. Thanks ahead of time.

usually matrix switches are simply video/audio switches and do not control other sources at all.

You will need either some other control system (Control4, Crestron, etc) or software running on a PC, eg CQC.

I have a videostorm switcher witch I thick works the same way. For it I have my mx-900 remote in every room just tell the zone to control and then it tells it the input I want. Example My great room is zone one if I want to want the blue ray player. From the watch menu on remote I press Blue ray. The remote tell the switcher I want to control zone one and use input 4. Works great after its setup. WAF is high in three months no complaints.

I have three mx-900 remotes with ir and rf in the rooms with TVs and in the A/V closet have one mx350 that gets the rf signal from the remotes. Works great for me. You should also be able to do it with just a IR extender. I just went ir to rf because wife wonted something simple to use and only one remote it does take some time to set up. For me it runs three hddvr. hddvd player, blueray player and audio.

Here is links to my remote and rf box.

You should note that URC is not a DIY-centric company and are dealer/CI based.

Good point if he goes good that way. Need to be careful the dealer will support you. Most will sell but you can't get the software. I did it DIY. Not sure if I can say the name of the place I got it. Believe i got the info in the remotes area. He was great to work with and prices were very good.
