My ps3 only converts to DD over optical? Thought it was supposed to be DTS?

I can only seem to get DD to my reciver over optical and not DTS

I thought the ps3 downmixes to DTS? I have dts as an accaptable audio format in the audio options, I even tried taking away the DD option then it only sent 2 channel pcm.

Im fairly confused, ive tried spiderman and I am legend.

40gb PS3 optical -

I know my reciever will take it as well, my a2 sends DTS and the dts lights come on/ect.

The PS3 can't output DTS unless it receives a DTS signal. the 360 add on can mix into DTS.
