For me personally I think "blind buy" can mean either haven't seen the movie or haven't seen reviews of the disk.

I have bought plenty of movies in my time where I'd seen it before and loved it but didn't read the disk reviews and was sorely disappointed that I'd bought it "blindly" without reading the reviews....

Highlander (dvd), Fifth Element (initial blu), House of Flying Daggers to name a few.....

July is looking to be a huge Blu-Ray month (see front post with all July releases). Especially July 29....

While mostly catch up titles, Paramount seems to have a very aggressive slate.

Good times.

What is this release all about? It seems incredibly unlikely that there would be another SKU for this only a month after the 20th Anniversary Edition release. Perhaps this is a mistake by Amazon?

Yeah, the somewhat maligned release last month: Dirty Dancing (20th Anniversary Edition). I suppose this could be a reissue or a stripped down version, but it seems more likely that Amazon accidentally tagged a DVD release as Blu-ray.

That was May 8, 2007, not 2008. Judging from Lionsgate's history, it's entirely possible they're putting out another new disc for this movie.

Oh duh - yeah, that was released last May not this May. I don't know what I was thinking. Lionsgate is indeed the king of DVD double-dip (and triple... and quadruple...), so I guess we'll see.
