I've been waiting for a an affordable solution that would permit me to backup laserdiscs to DVD while retaining the original PCM stereo or DTS 5.1 soundtracks. I would like to preserve those robust and enveloping PCM/DTS soundtracks.
I read about this new product from Happauge today. It appears to be a HD encoder with composite/component video and optical digital audio inputs and a USB output to a PC for writing to a DVD.

Do any technical experts out there think that this black box will allow me to archive my laserdiscs and digital soundtracks properly?
Regards,
