18" Easy Button End Tables 24" x 21" x 36" hwd - Page 3

In process of building now, hoping to have it 75% complete tomorrow. Waiting on roundover bit to arrive before final glue up later in the week.

If it wasn;t for a good week in Vegas courtesy of a work convention I'd be seriously considering something much less than the 'X'

Grrr...forgot to allow for blade width on two cuts Back to the saw tonight. Router bit due in Tuesday, not sure on 'X' but my plastic saw took the hit..

Will post up some pics late this week when I get back into town.
now that the specs of the maelstrom X have changed a lot, will this cabinet still be able to handle it properly?
Haven't had a chance to check yet but I'll try it anyway since the box is pretty much done. If not, build new box for the 'X' and get a different drive for this one and sell the combo to a friend who was already wanting a new sub for there setup

Win Win for me either way

thanks!!

modelling with your specs, there seem to be some minor differences for ported enclosures, but sealed enclosure results are DRAMATICALLY DIFFERENT--a 2.8 cu ft enlcosure goes from a Qtc of 0.706 to about 1.038.

is this the correct interpretation?

Definitely not selling what there advertising

Nice build Dan, I'm hoping my sub will look even close to how good yours is. I'll be building some of my braces modeled after yours, I hope you don't mind.

I'd like to ask how you make such nice sketches of the build you're working on... Those images look professional.

How did the credit card situation pan out?

Good luck,

Robert,
I haven't heard from them for like a month, I sent an e-mail on Tuesday.

Guess I should have the credit card company pull the funds back.

OK,
it's done. I called and disputed the transaction.
First time I've ever had to do that.

Thanks to all who offered advice on this.

Thanks Dan... Nice and easy to use this program, but how did you get the panels to be semi-transparent like that? I like how it looks, but I can only get opaque and fully transparent. :\\ Thanks for your help

I've also ordered the EP2500 so I can get to the bottom of the SSF issue, now that i'll be able to use the power.

Again just incase someone didn't catch my drift

$325 Delivered
Kevin's got them on 4th of July special

Welcome to the Maelstrom club!

...now stop mentioning the sale or I may be forced to buy two more!!!

Are you going to use one EP2500 and run a Maelstrom on each channel? Or bridge an EP2500 into each one?
That's a pretty good deal. I'm going to jump on it and probably build one of these end tables.

Starting with one amp, to figure out the crazy ass filter.
But it'll be one bridged amp per driver.

I doubt we will see pricing like this again. It saved me over $100 on shipping alone.
How is shipping so much money? Kevin's site says its estimated to between $19.50 to $29.50 per driver, yet you aren't that far from him (in the midwest) and your estimates were double that?

Army,
your in Ohio. As an experiment put a pair in his cart and look at the shipping charge. Let me know what you see, thanks.
Yea I definitely got a quote of $50.35 for ground shipping when I tried it just a few minutes ago for just ONE Mal-X. 63.8 lbs is the shipping weight so I can definitely see NEO Dan's $100 quote for a pair as accurate. I guess that $19-$29 is the lure to catch all those prospective buyers after they read the specs and see the pictures . Haha just kidding Kevin.

tabasc07,
$50.35, what a coincidence, LOL.

I was sort of overstating the savings on shipping but, I would have only been able to buy one driver at a time for the $402.35 price, so in effect buying 2 during the sale saved me $154.70.
Haha nice one Dan. Thanks for the heads up by the way on here and htguide (which is where I initially saw it since it was in its own thread). Yea, I wish I could buy two but that would probably be too much for my budget even with the sale. One should be good enough for me

Dan,

I have 2 definitive Tech pf1800's. One of the woofers is starting to buzz at moderate levels. The boxes measure 20x20x20 for about a total of 3.4cf internal. Will the Maelstrom be a possible replacement at that volume and the 500 watts of power available? Or do you suggest something else? I am asking because, if the Maelstrom is a go, I would like to order them to get the price for the 4th.

Thanks,

Robert

Robert,
that's a tough call without a driver to test. The only thing I can say is that generally most large drivers have similar response when stuffed into a small box like this. Is this for a different setup? You surely wouldn't go wrong having an extra pair of drivers around.

Totally different setup. These are for the older setup and I just want to get things going again without much more work.

Thanks,

Robert
