I must admit I love them! I was very skeptical at first buying speakers that I never heard before, but Ascends return guarantee and the glowing reviews on this forum from the likes of you, switney, brit etc. man. You really can't go wrong for the money.

Also, at the time I bought them ( just before christmas ), they were having a huge sale, and they knocked like $400 off the price and gave me the speaker stands for free.

I can hear things in movies I never heard before, I can only imagine what I would hear with some acoustical treatments.

Thanks for the compliment. The shelf is actually in my office, which is on the other side of the attic. If you go up the stairs, to the left is the HT, and to the right is the bathroom and my new office, here are some other pics.

and more of the office.

VERY NICE work on the built in bookshelves! I only have room for about one 3-4 foot wide one. Looking really nice!

Thanks! yah I liked the way they came out. What cool and you can't see it in the picture, is I ran tracks down the sides, so all those shelves are movable in 1/4 increments, so we can add and remove shelving as needed =).

I basically dadoed 2 channels in each shelf side and mounted these cheap shelf supports from HD in the channel, actually worked out a lot better then I thought it would =).

Well, kinda stoked, just found out yesterday that FIOS is coming to my neighborhood next month !!

Buh buh Comcast...

Nice. Last year, Verizon came throug the neighborhood NEXT to ours. Then they came in through the back to the house across street, went UP the street half-way, crossed over the street and came back down to the house across from where they started. They left about 20 of the 45 homes in our neighborhood undone. Go figure.

THAT'S what's holding me up. I don't want to close in the walls until I get the FIOS hookup. Yeah, THAT'S it. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Good luck. The lucky few in our neighborhood that have it, love it.

Speaking of FIOS, anyone know what sort of cable to run to the TV, etc? I may as well throw that into my LV cable runs while I have everything open.

RG6, I believe verizon is going to install a fibre to coax converter in my wiring closet, to allow the tv signal to go over the existing coax. I do not believe new wiring is required.

I have the following run to my tv.
RG6 ( coax )
2x hdmi
vga
2x ethernet
s-video.

But, for me, all my wires run to a central location where I put the equipment. I think Mark has fios now doesn't he?

Ok, so I am finally getting around to trying to program my Insteon network, and I am having some minor difficulties with one of my keypad links. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them.

I have a keypad link in the 3rd floor office and would like to hook it into my powerlinc usb controller, but I just cant get the two to see eachother. I have the keypad linc in question talking to all other devices, but just can't seem to get it to talk to the powerlinc on the 2nd floor.

I am going to try Smarthome in the morning, but if anyone has any ideas i'd love to hear them.

Also, any suggestions for automation software are more then welcome!

Thanks in advance!

They could be on different phases or too far apart. Not sure what software you are using, but try manually entering the id number. Otherwise you may need a signal bridge, or just add a few more switches to locations in between.

Hmms, I have 2 signal bridges, on just outside my office, and one just outside the 3rd floor office. Also, the interesting thing is, the keypad linc I have in my 2nd floor office can talk to the keypad link in the office on the 3rd floor with no problems, and the powerlinc is in that same office on the 2nd floor.

I am using that free downloaded Smart Home Timer software for now, I'd like to know what others are using, so that I purchase the right one. =) Any suggestions on this front are very welcome.

Houselinc works fine for me. I think they are just about to relaunch a new version since they are rebuilding the powerlinc.

Are you sure your signal bridges are on different phases?

I have no clue to be honest? How would I determine that? ( Are the phases basically each side of the circuit breaker? ) In which I can figure that one out.

Also, the wierd thing to me, is that whole the keypad in the office can see the keypad on the 3rd floor office, and powerlinc is on the same circuit as the keypad in the office.

Should I hold off for the new version, and also, A new powerlinch ??? is something defective? or are they just going to v3 insteon?
Sounds to me like they're out of phase as well. There is a hardwire option I saw on Smarthome that will jump the phases. You can tell (I think) if your breakers for your circuits are on opposite sides of the panel.

I'll try and look for this device.

Thanks appreciate that Bud and Mark and Michael =), but not to sound stuuupid, assuming they were on different phases, how would the 2 keypad lincs see eachother without any issues, and the powerlic is definately on the same circuit as that 2nd floor keypad. Just wondering.
The powerlinc is being rebuilt from scratch as it doesn't do the things they advertised it as being able to do (store macros). I believe you will be able to send in your old one for a free replacement. Same goes with the software.

Do you have 1132CU Powerlinc (non Insteon)? If yes, you can use what you have, but in X10 mode, unless you want to keep the PowerLinc connected to the PC.

We're about to do Chad's setup. My father-in-law will complete his wiring tomorrow, then I'll setup the seen control in the PowerLinc, but we're going to X10 route for now.

The basic way I understand it is that the insteon signal is transmitted over the airwaves and through the electrical wiring. It the RF (?) isn't strong enough and there is no direct connection via wiring it may just not be able to see the unit.

Thanks for the "studor vent" info. The project looks good.

Thanks, hope it helps, it was very easy to install, so i would definately go that route versus a new hole in the celing.

Sweet !!, that will be better then the whole signal linc rf fiasco, where u had to buy 2 new ones and send in your old ones and they gave u a free isteon remote... grrr mrr.

So, the houselinc software is freely upgradable once you buy the license?

The software updates every time I boot it up.

Sweet, im on the phone with smarthome tech service now, i'll have to ask them to transfer me to sales when we are done.

They seem to think to move the access point around as well, so I will try that tonight and see what it gets me.

Ok, spoke to smarthome and have a tempary workaround, I moved my laptop into the office and housed the powerlic up there and every works fine, then I took the powerlinc downstairs and put it back where it was, and it can control the office fine, no idea why, but its fixed. I also ordered to more signal lincs and some houselinc software, so can't wait for that.

On another note, I got home from work yesterday and 5 guys were spray painting all the unitilies lines in my yard, so I nicely walked over and asked what was going on, and they said, oh we are just marking the utilties to get your fibre installed

If anyone has any interest in my documenting the install process let me know, from what Mark has said, seems like it might be fun to watch!

They said in the next day or two they'll be cutting up my yard and going for the install. I asked if they would be running conduit and they guy looked at me like I was crazy, I personally thought it was a valid question...

Then I realized he was from Virginia Power... OOPS !!
