I am in the process of finishing the basement in my home and I need all the help I can get. Deciding on a projector in mind boggling. I will be in the $ 2500to $ 3000 market for a projector. I need help on wiring also. Where do I need to place the outlet for the projector. Thanks, Kenny

Before you determine that I'd find which projector you're gonna use since you need to dertermine you throw distance.

I highly recommend you spend some time on the forum reviewing room set-ups and equipment. I jumped right into my build without much research, and I am starting to regret it. I think I will still have a pretty nice space and equipment, but I would definitely have done a lot of things differently if I had taken my time to review AVS.

I agree with Funston. Take your time, read a lot, start a thread and ask lots of questions. List out the room dimensions, constraints (room, budget and WAF), take and post pictures, then read some more. You'll be much better off than just jumping in.

Your are right up the road from me. My basement is at a standstill right now. I am having to replace an exterior door that has some custom aluminum trim for the vinyl siding and I am almost afraid to proceed. Good Luck with your build and take your time. Keep an eye out for the Taylor Family Cinemas thread to get back in gear soon. Maybe I need to get "Loganned"

Thanks for the replys. I have been trolling the boards for a while now and I am still confused. What I want out of a projector is ablility to see the picture in moderate light and real clear in the theatre light setting. The only projector I have really looked at has been the Sony V-40 I think. I cannot afford to sink a lot of money into the theatre at this current time. I really just need the pojector now so I will now the throw distance. Around September I will be furnishing and completeing the speaker installation of the theatre room. Right now the wife and myself are just finishing the basement. It is a job to tackle 2500 square feet. I am about 3 weeks away from sheetrock and I have to make my mind up about the projector. Thanks for all the help

Look at the Panasonic AX200U. Very bright and does well in ambient light. About 1300.00. Other option is the Panasonic AE2000U for about 2700.00 (720p vs 1080p).

Projector's just get cheaper and better. Take a look at the throw calculators at projector central.com, run your wiring, then buy the PJ last or close to last.
