One of my favorite parts of each GTA game (I normally get the PC version) is definitely the radio stations. I've ripped the audio from each and still occasionally listen to it. The talk stations are so funny and I'm glad to see Lazlow is back!

I'm looking forward to The Classics 104.1 as well.

I couldn't find another thread re: pre-orders, but did you guys pre-order GTA IV? If so, where? Aside from the free gamerpics, are there any incentives to pre-order from one place or another? I have giftcards to Circuit City and Gamestop I'd like to use.

Thanks,
Matt

Thanks,

I'm quoting myself..how pretentious is that?

Found a nice summary over at FatWallet of the larger stores' pre-order bonuses:

Looks like I'll head to CC, although I do love free t-shirts....

any word on the achievements for this game yet?
Some were listed in OXM, one I remember is an achievement for killing all pigeons in the city. The number was quite low though, like shoot 100 pigeons or something like that.

Anyone pre-order? I did a GameStop pre-order, now I am tempted to get my money back and go to Walmart to get the game. That way I can get it at Midnight like all the other crazy people.

Check with your GameStop. My local GameStop is having a Midnight opening on 4/28. They will close as normal and then re-open again around 11-11:30. Just for GTA IV.

Yeah. My problem is that I got the game at a GameStop which is 15 miles away. (Near my job.) There is another one about 5 miles away, but I have to get my money back to go to that one. If that is the case, the WalMart is around the corner from me, so I figured I should do that one.

Now I am debating if I should take the following Tuesday and Wednesday off!
I pre-ordered at GameStop to take advantage of the "extra credit" on trade-ins. First game I've ever pre-ordered, actually. I wasn't going to go to the midnight opening, but as we get closer I'm thinking more and more about doing so (and taking at the very least Tuesday off of work to play).

BTW, the GT thread is no longer there. Anybody else have links to video?

Invalid link.

I wonder if they put it up too soon?

Any word on if custom soundtracks will work in this game like they did with the first three on the original Xbox (With a channel of the radio playing your custom soundtracks), or will you have to set it to be playing your own music constantly using the 360's default capabilities that every game has?

I've never played a Grand Theft game, so i think I'll wait for it to go on sale for about $35, or find it cheap on ebay. I refuse to pay full msrp for these games anymore.

If you are still in the middle of another game, wait.

But if not, it is well worth the price. I loved GTA3. Wasn't much of a fan of GTA:SA.

What is really getting me excited is the multiplayer aspect. Not a fan of FPS multiplayer, but this is different out of the box.

Now it is time for me to move my 360 back upstairs to my home theater and play it on the big screen. That way I don't have to explain to my 3 & 5 year old why I am on a motorcycle gunning down people.

i had that exact same problem with crackdown "oh, we better call an ambulance for that guy, he shouldn't have walked out in the street like that!"

Man, I took off to Gamestop after work yesterday and changed my preorder to the Special Edition version. Im officially "Ate up with it" now ha ha. One thing that bugs me is, how come a video game "specialty" store isnt offering any extras like Walmart or Amazon?! That kinda ticks me off!

I think it's funny to read complaints about games being $60, not that I like that either, when 20 years ago there were games for NES that were that much. Wasn't there an SNES game that was $70+ ?
NES and SNES games were harder to MFG because they were solid state, much of that cost was for actually MAKING the medium.

DVD's cost pennies to make.
IIRC most SNES games were upwards of $60+
post #84 of 1475
I don't know how much, but I wonder how much it cost to actually make the cartridge.
The profit margins for the manufacturer are about the same; development, advertising, and other costs have risen. My point was the games are the same price, they haven't gone up with inflation and are a pretty good deal in comparison to the past. The systems themselves are more expensive, of course, though some of the very early systems (like first PCs) were incredibly pricey.
There was also a smaller market then, market is MUCH bigger now.

Anyone else notice Niko put on a helmet when he got on the motorcycle? I am not one to nitpick but does he really need to put a helmet on?

Safety first!

Totally Rockstar's droll sense of humor.

You ever try to do a drive by with no helmet on?

hehheh, actually, at high speeds (over 70 mph) the wind pressure on your ears is MURDER without a helmet or windscreen to deflect the air.

I like the helmet stuff, nice touch.
