Please double check my Panny thoughts.

I am helping a friend with HT setup. We had an option of several projectors, but we have limited setup options. A 136% lens shift puts the screen about 2 1/2 feet above the floor because of a HVAC. Anyway, he needs some flexibility. So... I think the Panasonic AE2000 looks like the solution. Very flexible placement and seems to do a good job. I don't like the idea of dust blobs, but he'll just have to keep up on the maintainence. Anyway, the RS1 is too expensive, the epson pro is 6-$700 more. I know some other brands, but not sure what comparable models would be? Sony, Marantz, In Focus, Knoll. Anything else with flexibility in the same price range.

You get a lot for your money with that projector. I don't know what the street price on the Sony VW40 is, but it would be cheaper than the RS1 I think.

I have the First gen Ae1000 and it has been great since day 1. When it comes to dust concerns don't get scared away to quickly. I placed mine in a recent theater reno, so typical residual dust was lingering after the clean and have had no problems.

I have found that with a couple comercially installed LCDs that were installed around here that are run for hours each day, there haven't been too many dust blobs. They don't do a very good job cleaning the filters either.

It didn't cost too much to have the blobs removed by a tech when they did pop up.
