District 9 (Sony Pictures) is now available for pre-order here in New Zealand. Release date stated as 16 December 2009. Enjoyed this at the theatre...hope the BR release is just as good!

Agreed...although I really need to have "Somewhere in Time" and "Sense and Sensibility" on blu-ray to "legitimize" the format in my wife's eyes.

Been there - here's help: A&E's Pride and Prejudice (yes, the Colin Firth production) is available on Blu-Ray and looks/sounds excellent. Especially considering the DVD version was, if memory serves, P&S and overall terrible quality spread over two DVD's. Check it out - she'll thank you!

I see thedigitalbits is reporting that THE MUSIC MAN will FINALLY be released on February 2, 2010. They even have a pic of the box art (preliminary I would assume).

I have a funny history with this movie. THE MUSIC MAN was actually listed among the very first likely HD releases back in 2005...before you could buy anykind of HD disc. That's my kind of movie so I bought an HD DVD player in 2006 to watch it. Of course, it never showed up.

Next time I heard about was in a 2007 online chat with Warner Brothers who said it had been delayed until 2008. Ok. Now I had a Blu-ray player to cover all eventualities. And it never showed up.

Today, it finally gets a mention. Let's hope they really mean it this time.

A big, widescreen classic musical...that's my idea of high def (I'm not one for giant robots dueling to the death ).
