Remote controls and Rotel equipment

Hi - I have some Rotel equipment (preamp, amp) but no original remote for it. I am looking for a remote that can control the Rotel equipment as well as a couple of other pieces (TV, universal player). A learning remote would be best. I am debating whether it makes sense to buy an original Rotel remote control or to go with a different brand (e.g., Logitech). The Rotel remotes generally get very good reviews. I was wondering if anyone was using a different universal remote to control Rotel equipment in a heterogenous setup and what the experience are.

Thanks so much. Best - MM

I would look at Universal Remotes and RTI.

Your dealer should be able to at least loan you a rotel remote to use if you want to learn some comands. Rotel remotes are prety good and can learn, but i have never used one with macros although im sure they work fine if you dont need anythng complicated.

I use a Harmony 1000 with my Rotel equipment and would recomend it to my worst enamy. Other harmony remotes may be better, but havent havent used them and have a personal edge against Harmony because of how they have treated their Harmony 1000 customers. I am looking at RTI and will likely make a buy in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for the reply. I checked out RTI. Those are nice remotes, but I am not sure if I want to spend that kind of money on a remote that is supposed to control only five pieces of equipment. Best - MM

I bought a sub $30 remote from amazon from All for One and it worked with my Rotel.I need to buy another because I set it up with another system. They even send you a sound file through email to update newest codes. Amazing.

Will the logitech harmony 875 remote work with the rotel rmb 1075 amp? Is the 1075 IR compatible?

You can try the Harmony Remote Database Checker. It is at http://www.logitech.com/harmony/components

I put in an Amplifier for Rotel and used model RMB-1075 and shows it as being in their database as a Receiver.

You can check to see if all of your equipment is in their database.
