Yes, he was. However, when his Mom was being inaugurated as New President, John Voigt's character new that her Son was in contact with his friend who had inside knowledge of a typical 24 conspiracy to fund the Warlord in Africa. It was no surprise, that given last night's episode was 6 months in the future from that event, that Voigt or one of his people would have had the President's son killed to tie up any loose ends on the Conspiracy to fund the Warlord.

I recognized him from his eyes, but I didn't know who it was until I read your post. Boy does he look different without a beard!

It sounds like other people in St. Louis had the same problem on OTA and Charter HD, in addition to my problem on directv. What do you think?

The steaming pile of crap that was KTVI's broadcast was the topic de jour in the St. Louis area discussion over on the Local Reception forum.

Excellent episode. Sooo glad this season is back. I think Tony is working for the governmnet or something. The way they made it out that he is not the mastermind and kept out of the loop, it made me think they are going to twist this that he is doing undercover work.

I could help but laugh at the whole scene with Jack and the the ballpoint pen. I always said the same thing jokingly to my wife, that if Jake ever walks into a room that I am in, I would probably start telling him anything he wanted, even if I didn't do it.

Good start to the season. Can't wait to see how this season unfolds.

I also think Tony somehow ends up being a good guy.

And I hope Agent Walker is prominently featured in every single episode.

Anyone know if Elisha Cuthbert will be back this season?

Reason I'm asking is that she attended the 24 Season Premiere party. Odd she would attend if she is no longer part of the cast...

Broadcast was fine in Broken Arrow(tulsa)/OK on KOKI fox23 via cox cable. Don't know about OTA. I watched about 20 minutes delayed.

The broadcast here on Time Warner in the NY Capital region was obviously low-bitrate. Macroblocking and pixelation.

Tony could be a good guy, even hiding it from Jack... if he was a real bad guy he would have crashed those planes...

I so want to see Chloe, is she on tonight?

So far full of beauties, Agent Walker and that chick that was the girlfriend of the senator son, keep em' coming..

Sloppy Secon... er, Elisha is supposed to be in this season.

Picture quality was fine via DirecTV DVR from Washington DC's Fox affiliate.

Maybe that's because it was filmed here?

I'm enjoying this season so far. I think some people are just looking for a reason to slam this show. The first 2 hours were good escapism.

Unless there's some reason that I don't know about, I think the writers need to brush up on their Greek alphabet.

Why were the enemy camps in Africa labeled Alpha, Beta and Delta? What happened to Gamma?

Loved the latest Robocop cast tie-in. Jack beat him down verbally, and that was satisfying. Although I doubt the people being targeted by that justified verbal beat-down were even aware, given how oblivious to reality they are. Their complete lack of responsibility affords them the luxury of idealism.

Tony was looking like he'd been through a lot since his "death." I hope we get to learn some of that backstory. And, hey...how about they work in some flashbacks featuring the Ubercutie?

Saw a video interview bit with Kiefer S. (may have been via E! - was on my Yahoo homepage) where he stated that "Kim" would be popping up this season (preferrably sans cougar trap & hopefully sans much clothing!)

The PQ was fine via Cox OKC. I rather liked the opener, although the director should have put his foot on Jeanine Garofalo's neck. Her facial tics and nervous hand gestures, to put it gently, didn't work. Worse, tattooed actresses bug me and Garofalo is no exception.

As is always the case, this season's premise makes Superman and The Wizard of Oz seem grounded in reality. Still, 24 is well acted, exciting, and looks good, so I guess that I am on board for another season.

I'm not sure JG is to blame for her character. The writers always seem to have some weird interpersonal struggles between the office-mates backing up Jack's field efforts. And her bizarre behavior is likely something the writers and director encouraged, although I agree it is distracting and a poor choice.

She has not aged particularly well; she seemed very cute in "The Truth about Cats and Dogs." Maybe she's been wearing such a scowl for so long, it's toughened the look on her face.

A lot of people said that about Chloe when her character first appeared.

FWIW, picture quality on Denver's KDVR-DT was excellent, or certainly no worse than past seasons.

I noticed the overnights for this opening salvo of '24' were just under 13 million. The football game runover and the Golden Globes both drew big, and siphoned off a lot of the young demographic at whom this adrenaline-fueled show is aimed. Perhaps FOX ought to think about another airing of these first 4 hours later on in the week...? It's important for a heavily serialized show to grab as many viewers as possible right off the bat, because it's usually downhill from there. I would think FOX would want to maximize viewers for one of their top, and most promoted, properties. A second showing might help do that.

Do overnight ratings approximate PVR use? "24" is likely recorded by many, for commercial-free playback.

A great opening episode of the new season.. Jack washed out the smell from the Giants lousy performance a few hours prior.. I also think Tony is in deep cover..Looks like Jack and the Joker went to the same torture school on how to get even with pens and pencils.. A perfect sunday nite with Jack Bauer and the Unit..

It was weird watching Kiefer attending the GG's while his show was premiering... Was he nominated for something? I didn't see that he was interviewed on the red carpet and perhaps do some promo for his show, (like don't miss "24" season premiere tonight at Fox),many of the interviewed were doing it..

Despite its premise, 24 isn't that serialized. You can start watching it any time during the season as long as you watch the episode intro, and depending on the season you can miss two to four episodes and not be the slightest bit confused.

LOL. All these years and I had no idea that Red Forman was the villain from Robocop. Thanks for that tidbit of information.

I second the comments on Die Hard 2 and 4. Maybe they can work in something about dump trucks full of gold, too? But a federal firewall protecting privately owned infrastructure utilities? WTF?

On another note, since when do they fly 767s on a short haul route like DCA-JFK? Those flights are usually turboprop puddle jumpers.

the local station wdbd-dt jackson, ms broadcast the entire 2 hours in letterboxed sd. contacted them and they say sorry an error in the control room caused the problem. WTH......can't believe someone at the station is not required to check and see what they are outputting to the local customers. sucks knowing some employee just didn't remember to flip the damn HD switch............argh........

Thanks for the link, I would have missed it otherwise. Those were interesting musings, indeed. Regardless of one's political inclinations, the piece traces the arc of the show and makes some provocative suggestions as to why so many viewers didn't like last season. Highly recommended.

Don't be surprised, I've seen this any number of times.

Last night the local ABC station played the first segment of Desperate Housewives in 4:3 SD despite it being one of their highest rated hours of the week.

Only when they hit the "switch" to go to commercial did they realize "Oh, it already was in SD."

To be perfectly blunt, many stations' control room monitors are still 13" 4:3 CRTs monitoring their analog feed.
