Although I would be the first to concede that this season's Tony Goes Bad thread is outrageously preposterous, even by 24's loose standards, this season is still marginally acceptable and FAR better than Day 6. During Day 6 I became just plain bored after awhile. Despite this season's extra silliness, I have remained fully engaged in its wildly exciting and unpredictable plots.

Anyone else think that the silliness factor has just gone through the roof this year? I just find myself laughing now at every ridiculous rabbit the writers try to pull of the hat.

I think its safe to say 24 has officially jumped the shark. Only Jack decided to beat the shark up and get him to talk.

There is no shark to jump.

Jack killed the shark. The show would have to jump the Bauer.

It all goes against what we are seeing because of his recent actions, but I still expect to see the twist before this ends. Tony has killed far more of them' than he has of us.' The number of us' will be far less than the number killed if he can't help stop this. The end justifies the means.

I believe you are the prophetic one here. This has been the focus of the entire season. Slide over as I jump aboard.

I see a bunch of Chuck Norris-ish statements to follow. Ha ha.

Well okay, I guess I'm gonna back off my "undercover Tony" theory. He's just walking up and shooting agents now when he could have subdued them. I don't like to think how--while he was pretending to be good--everything went according to plan, but I do like the idea that this "group" used him to take care of Jonas' self-interested actions.

And until I see Kim get on a plane to go home, I'm still convinced she's there and heading toward that stem cell lab.
She doesn't know what the exact treatment is needed, I'm thinking Jack's going to pass out at some point and the treatment is going to be given to him with her help without his consent due to that.

As with most women, I'm sure Kim had to stop by the ladies room to freshen up after her tearful encounter with her father, and as we males know all to well, that takes at least 45 minutes. Then add another 45 minutes because they can never find what they're looking for in their 15 compartment pocketbooks. She then probably stopped by the commissary to get a $2.50 cup of coffee, and instead of giving the female cashier 3 one dollar bills, gave her 2, and took 30 minutes trying to find that damn loose change she knows is somewhere in that suitcase known as a pocketbook. So I suspect she's still in the building, probably lost, because women have no sense of direction.

Aliens, you chauvinistic pig.

While talking to her hubby on the phone, she did say something about trying to catch the 6:00 a.m. plane (or something like that)... so there's still time.

Maybe next year they should call it 24 jobs and every hour Jack loses his job and has to get a new one.

No, not really. Every season is silly, so if you don't like Chuck you're probably wasting your time here. We watch 24 BECAUSE it's ridiculously over the top.

I just finished watching the episode from Monday night and while I thought it was ok, it was definitely weak compared to the last 8 episodes. The problem was the dialogue which came off as very mickey mouse as though it was written from a young college kid. The best example I can give is this:

while on the conference call that man says after listening to the others give their opinion:

"there is wisdom...and whatever"

Umm, what? And whatever? Yeah, that doesn't make sense. Why not just say "I've listened to what you all have had to say and there is whatever" since it is about as ambiguous and lazy as what was written.

That is the first incorrect use of "whatever" I have noticed in the show since I became hyper-sensitive to hearing the word incorrectly used which would be about 3-4 months ago. Sad that the "whatever" virus has spread to this show and mark my words in 5-10 years every other comment people make will be "whatever", end with "or whatever" (that is lazy) or some variation of that as the decline of man's ability to intelligently communicate speeds up making the way for the utter laziness of conversation I hear every day.

Idiocracy here we come! Sheesh.

Here's hoping that episode is not a sign of the remainder of the season and it finishes strong. I may actually buy this on blu-ray if the remainder satisfies me which is surprising to me because 2 months ago I debated not even finishing the season.

don't worry, next week's PSA will be k-suth warning the kids against the dangers of language evolution. "sometimes it is necessary to break the rules and torture an alleged bad guy if he is in possession of critical intel ... but kids, it is never okay to torture the english language. please listen to that one guy who has a bizarre obsession with the word 'whatever' and think before you say something that is acceptable to only 98% of the population."

Just pulled it up on Hulu. 17:02 in, he says "There is wisdom in what I've heard. But there is also wisdom in something I haven't heard."

Given that your "best example" of weak dialog is something that you completely misheard, maybe you should reconsider your opinion of the writing?

Try closed captioning if you're having trouble understanding the on-screen speech.

How many seasons (days) after this one is Sutherland signed for? I know he signed for three before this season so I think it is two but I'm not sure how that strike missed season plays into the equation since he announced it on Leno before the strike happened. I doubt they can sign him for any more so do you think Jack will be killed off at the end of the last season?

But then again who knows, as long as Sutherland is knocking down $500k per episode ($12 mill/season) and the show stays above the 10-11 million viewers per week level as it is doing now they may keep going for another few years.
In every thread for every 24 season I have seen, some posters decry the "unreality" of 24. To that I say, "Say what?" The Magic of 24 has always been its wildly preposterous but also wildly exciting plots. How else could it deal with many more crises in a 24 hour period than most folks see in a lifetime? The show is saved from irredeemable silliness by high production values and uniformly excellent performances. Nevertheless, those who aren't willing to suspend more disbelief here than nearly anywhere else, short of the superhero genre, should look for entertainment elsewhere.

nah, who carries change these days? Kim probably spent at LEAST a 1/2 hour at the coffee machine trying to figure out how to use her credit card to pay for the cup of coffee. She is blonde afterall!!!

This season of 24 has been very entertaining. That was what last season lacked, and that's why "Day 6" was a waste of time. The unreality of 24 is forgivable, based on its overall entertainment value.

Easy, guys! That kind of talk can get the Political Correctness police on your cases.

I don't get caught up in the reality of 24 much, but it is humorous sometimes to see how wacky things are.

How long did it take Chloe to get from her room with Morris to Jack? I'd say about 2 minutes and then Jack asked if she read the folder on the way and she said yes!

They need to take such liberties sometimes though, who cares really.

I got someone hooked on the show this year, and she wants to watch them all now. Is season 1 online (legally) anywhere? I see Hulu only put them up in increments of 5 every few weeks and they only have the end of season 1.

Tell her to hit the local Blockbuster. That's what I did.

Netflix is probably her best friend at this point. Seasons 1-6 are available to rent. Unfortunately they don't seem to be "Watch It Now" enabled.

Hulu has about 12 hours of THIS season available...don't know of any other legal site that would carry episodes at this point.

Yep. I subscribed to Netflix solely to watch seasons 1-5 of 24. I was disappointed that you can't watch it instantly, but I've gotten over it.
