'24' - Season 7 on FOX HD - Page 67

The Kiefster has been hinting that he wouldn't mind if Jack was killed off since, oh, he started getting that exec. producers credit in S-2. After all, why work your tail off when you can get paid handsomely for essentially doing nothing?

But if you think about it, for a working actor, he's got a pretty good gig. He makes about $10 million/year from '24' last I heard and he gets to do a schlocky movie every off-season if he wants. And, as an EP, he knows darn well the show probably wouldn't survive without him, at least in its current form. His identity is all wrapped up with Jack Bauer now - he thinks of it as his "family" and rightly so. But the wild card is the little drinking problem he has - it's gotten him in hot water so many times and the recent head-butt incident, no matter how "justified", just adds fuel to that fire (and what is it about Brook Shields that provokes such passion from her fellow thespians? Her eyebrows?). But if he doesn't get it under control, it might all end badly for him.

Stop watching it. They could put out 13 more seasons, and I would watch every last one of them.

So Jack will be in a coma for 3 months, wake up and spend the next 24 hours running around NYC saving people from terrorists. Wow!

If that's the case, it doesn't bode well for Jack doing anything next year. You don't shoot kneecaps, yell, put down your weapon, get the head honchos at the new CTU pissed at you, and call Chloe for help at least 20 times on your cell, all within 24 hours after coming out of a coma. Nope, this doesn't look good.

You can on this show. People have rougher days than that after coming back from the dead.

Perhaps you missed season 6? He did all of that immediately after years of torture in a Chinese prison. This is 24, reality doesn't apply here.
C'mon, guys, it's a coma; you have to have a touch of reality, even with 24. I suspect they will have another Redemption' this fall and that will settle the coma dilemma.

Not unless you're Jack Bauer.

Hey, stem cell therapy is miraculous, as anybody watching its dedicated advocates pontificate can attest. Instant stamina and muscle tone will just be a minor effect of its awesome curative powers in "24" lore. If it can cure super-fast prion infection, why can't it be so amazing Jack will probably be clairvoyant and telekinetic as a byproduct as well. I see Jack transmogrified into comic book hero status in season 8.

And seasons 1-7 weren't comic book status?

Comas are the sleep Jack needs.

No you don't.

They've detonated two nuclear devices on 24 so far and it made no difference to anything. One of which was in the middle of California.

Jack just took down a major terrorist conspiracy with zero sleep, while he was suffering from a fatal infection, and you think he can't shake off a coma in a few months?

And I have to say that biological weapon was crap. Barely any symptoms, requires little medical care to ease the pain, takes forever to die ... it would have been more devastating if he had got swine flu. At least then Jack would have had a cough and maybe a sneeze to fight off.

Um, I don't think that's exactly right. I thought he said S8 begins "shortly" after this season ended - no mention, iirc, of him waking up from his coma that day - and basically suggested that the shorter time gap (a few months) differed from the 2-3 years between past seasons. None of this seems writ in stone, though, so the concerns about Jack fighting bad guys immediately after waking up is just plain wrong.

24 has been my favorite show over the years and yet I wouldn't mind if next season is it's last. All good things must come to an end and i'd rather the show go out on a high than limping off the scene. Most of all, i'd like to see Jack Bauer transition to the big screen as a theatrical film.

Gee, I doubt that this show would transition well to the big screen.
For one, it would be way too long of a movie.

Nah, it's real time. They'd just call it "2".

It was just you two. This season was phenomenal.

This year was fantastic, I’d say even one of the best until Tony killed Larry. Sorry, but I think the writers failed miserably after that. The season ending ratings supported the failure; the least watched episode of the season.

I love how ratings are correct when they agree with your* opinion, but they're dead wrong when they don't.

*Not necessarily you specifically, just people in general.

Damn it. Damn it. DAMN IT!!!!

Chloe, get me out of this coma!

Am I out of it yet?

Damn it Chloe. NOW!

He's got bigger problems than a coma. He promised the Senate subcommittee he'd finish his testimony the next day. Looks like he's gonna be late for that one! Honestly, that's how I thought this season would end.. with him walking back in front of the committee investigating him and the door closing.

His chief pursuer, the chairman of the committee, ran into a bit of an impediment along the way he was murdered, as I recall.

Yeah, that's when I abandoned my theory. Though Congress maintaining a hearing schedule even when the chair passes wouldn't shock me in the least.

Anyone get the Blu-ray? How's the PQ?

Season 8 info already:

Quote:

Jennifer Westfeldt and John Boyd have joined the cast of the eigth season of Fox’s 24.

In 24, Boyd (The Notorious Bettie Page) will play Jonah Schwartz, one of the new systems analysts at CTU. Westfeldt (Kissing Jessica Stein) will play Meredith Reed, an ambitious journalist with ties to Arman Hashemi (Anil Kapoor), a Middle East leader on a US peacemaking mission.

Season 8 will be set a year-and-a-half to two years after Day 7 in New York City, and would include the reformation of a “more budget-conscious” CTU, complete with new leader. Season Eight begins production this week.
