Hello,
I am not very particular about sound (e.g. I don't own a single CD or MP3 player for that matter), but as I just built an addition for a TV room (58" plasma), I am also of course getting surround sound to complete the deal. Best Buy offers the 585 for ~$495 on sale and the just-released 390 for $350 on sale.
I think I would prefer the 390 only because I'd rather not have floor-standing speakers, and the rear speakers are a couple inches shorter (thus, less noticeable).
Would there be any real difference from a technical standpoint between the two systems? Despite my lack of interest in sound per se, I don't mind spending the extra money if it got me something better (in fact, I picked up the 585 system two weeks ago...box still unopened) when I'm watching a movie, or listening to the radio...or even a CD if I eventually got one : )
Thank you for your opinions.
Also...can I hook up a pair of outdoor speakers using the two extra pairs of front speaker inputs on the back of the receiver?
