OMFG! Stern 101 beats the crap out of O&A and that channel has crap on it! ROFL!!

Here's the original story.

Howard Stern Still Dominates Satellite Listening

April 24, 2008

Arbitron has released ratings for satellite radio for the fall of 2007 and Howard Stern's Sirius channels are still the most-listened to stations on either service. The survey found that over half a million listeners had signed up for satellite radio since the Spring 2007 survey. As one would expect, the NFL on Sirius and holiday-related stations saw an increase in listenership in the fall as opposed to the spring survey.

Howard Stern 100 on Sirius is the most listened to channel on satellite, with a 0.04 AQH rating and a cume of 1,210,000 listeners 12+. His Stern 101 channel has a 0.01 AQH and a cume of 501,100. Over on XM, Opie & Anthony's Virus channel pulls in a 0.01 AQH 12+, with a cume of 171,300.

Sirius Hits 1 is the only other Sirius channel with over half a million cume. On XM, the '60's, '70's and '80's channels all cross the 500,000 cume mark, with a 0.01 AQH rating. The XM Top 20 on 20 channel had a cume of 1,049,200 and a 0.01 AQH rating. The fall data further shows that for all of satellite's many niche stations, the channels that play the hits still continue to be the top rated music channels.

I don't know if I'm reading this right but what I find funny is XM's 20 on 20 was almost #1 in listeners....

If true all the money both services paid for all this high priced talent and the hit channels ratings is about as good, and in many cases better then the big ticket channels...

those ratings are complete lie....well not a lie but the way they take in data is completely retarded.

O & A talked about them today and had Eric Logan from XM on the air today to say what the official numbers are...i believe O & A's were somewhere between 900,000 and million....so still below Howard but not nearly as bad at people were led to belive by that article

Dude, you fell into the Jonvall trap. Look at the title of the different threads he has started, its not worth it. Let him be the ultimate Howie fanboy and just sit back and laugh.

But seriously..... 900,000? PFFFTTT!!

Logan said their AHQ was between 900,000 and 1 million. Their cume, or listeners, was "higher" but he was vague in both counts.

You add in all their FM listeners (which Logan claims the FM stations are the ones getting the credit in Arbitron since Arbitron doesn't solicit SDARS customers) I'm sure they have many more listeners than Howards 1-2 milllion on Sirius alone.

And they just re-signed their contract, so they aren't going too far anytime soon on FM at least.

Would someone be willing to list out every key segment on a spreadsheet with O&A/ Stern in 2 columns for a side by side comparison of every demo.

This way we can truly see who tops each category.

My other thought is were/are the Arbitron book ratings always so skewed as some posters suggest even when we talked about terrestrial ratings?

And does tv ratings suffer from the same bias?

Your right... O&A winter ratings in NY just came out.

MORNINGS: WINS (7.2), WHTZ (5.9), WBLS (4.3), WSKQ & WLTW (3.9), WCBS-AM (3.5), WRKS (3.3), WCAA & WABC (3.2), WCBS-FM & WQHT (3.1), WPAT-FM (3.0), WAXQ & WPLJ (2.8), WWPR (2.7), WOR (2.6), WKTU (2.4), WFAN (2.3), WQXR (1.9), WWFS (1.8), WADO & WXRK (1.7).

Correct, the old ratings came out this week. PPMs came out the month before and they are #1 in the mornings. For someone that listens to the show as much as you do mercury, I'd have thought you heard Opie cover it today

So I'd assume they are actually somewhere in between either way. I think the point of the thread isn't that O&A suck and Howard rules, it's more about about how Arbitron ratings are useless these days, PPMs are meant to fix that, and neither case covers satellite radio anyway.

And Howard's ratings would go up by just as much, if not more. Whatever Arbitron flaw effected them on XM would effect Howard at least equally.

So while the raw numbers might be wrong, the percentage differences are likely right.

Sorry.

Last time these Satnumbers came out and O&A scored 250,000 it was because they were on vacation and suspended.

now that the numbers went down its some other excuse..

the numbers are what they are,
be a man and deal with it.....
HAHAHAH be a man and deal with it??

Like I said "bro", no one is saying Howard isn't the leader, and O&A don't have better ratings. We are saying the numbers are flawed, that is the point of the story.

The one who needs to be a man and deal with it sounds like the one who loves his "hero" so much that every post in here must be against you and your precious choice to enjoy his show.

When we all know there is no ratings system for old, washed up, unfunny radio hosts who make $500MM anyway...
