My PS3 and 360 Dashboards

These pics really do the set no justice and i will try to take more pics and better quality too. This is the set in straight standard mode with no tweaks. Please ask if there are any requests for certain mavies or scenes and i will try to do the blur comparison with the games by tomorrow!!
yeh, I think you need some type of image stabilization for the pics as some are quite blurry (a tripod would do wonders). and compression doesn't help either hehe. but thats okay, looks great so far. thanks for posting. much appreciated.

Can someone explain me why there are so much different references in Sony's line-up ? I mean : v3500, v4000, v4100, w4100, v4500, XBR6, XBR7, XBR8...seriously, I'm lost !
Try these!!! I found something to set the camera on and left the light on in my room as well. No compression either!!! Sorry im new at this and tryin my best. My camera is a 6 mega pixel Sony Cybershot and this tv is awsome but im sure nothing compares to a $6000 plus pioneer plasma

Dammit i dont know why the bear looks blue-ish? maybe i need to try a different setting on the camera cause these dont even ook remotely close to how good this set looks.
looks better now. sorry I can't help with the settings on your camera but you might want to try setting the picture mode like daytime/nightime and try adjusting the exposure or contrast, I dunno.

I've only had this set 2 days but I'm quite sure this is the set I want to purchase, or the W4100 if it comes down in price on amazon to my range. I know the 650 is killer this year but I have a bright room and pricewise it is in the very high end (a tiny bit of a reach) of what I want to spend. I am hoping Big River will discount the W4100 to V4100 MSRP levels in which case I'll pick that up and get the slightly higher CR plus 120hz, but if not I will be perfectly fine with the value and great PQ of the V4100.

It sure blows away the Sammy LN-T4061F I had for about a month. Much sharper clearer picture, much less noise/grain, more accurate colors, way better on SD, can achieve "window effect" that I could never get on that Sammy, Cinemotion works great with Blu-Rays etc. The whole month I had the Samsung I was dissapointed but resigned to keeping it. But I'm so glad I wised up at the last minute. You shouldn't settle for mediocrity when spending that much money!!

Just out of curiosity can you people post your firmware version your set is running.
You can find it in the menu under support/contact...
Mine set has version: EU-C-P-B-BB

In my opinion after owning both sets for a week I prefer Sony 40v4100 over the Sammy 40a550.

bobski510, thanks very much for the comparison. I am in the process of trying to decide which to go with, the Samsung 52" 550 or 52" v4100. I currently own the 550, which I am extremely pleased with, but wondering how much better the sony v4100 may be. Unfortunately the 52" sony v4100 is not out yet and so I cannot compare, and my return period on the Samsung is unfortunately drawing close to an end. Just out of curiosity, did you try some of the settings mentioned in the A550 calibration thread for the Samsung you had? Thanks.
I just took a lot at the a650...gorgeous pic but here is lots of glare in black areas of a scene. Also, a local dealer had a xbr4 for 2188 plus tax. Lowest price I've ever seen.

Yeah, I looked at the a550 calibration thread and went through all the settings and the sound EQ settings and all that good stuff. Both the a550 and v4100 are great sets and the picture quality is awesome on each one. I just find when comparing the two that the Sony has the better PQ, sound and features.
they were all blu-ray!!! I'll try something new and replace the older pics with better ones and try to take some more with different setting on my camera.

I love the semi-matte screen...got some gloss for the extra kick but almost no reflection!!! reflection was a big problem with my 71Fs and 66Fs Samsungs because of my window location.

I feel for everone whos trying to decide between this set and the 550 cause even though i blindly chose the V4100 and am extremely impressed by this set i cant help but wonder if id be as happy with the 550 and if i made the right choice. I think the worst part is that i was such a Samsung freak and was a little offset by the brand change. weird i know

This set def got something special cause when i watch blu-rays it almost has a 120hz feel to it...very smooth!!! something s different about it but cant put my finger on it but i like it and overall am glad i chose this set. Better than my 66F but cant fairly compare it to a 550.

I just need some nice setting now cause i have it on standard but know it needs some tweaking...anyone can help with that?

WOW those are amazing shots! Yeah, some of the pictures are blurry but this TV has a wonderful picture.

Off topic here. A couple of pages back, I gave out my review of this TV and mentioned about a lag between regular and HD channels with Comcast. Well, tonight as I was finished watching the Marlins game on FSN HD, I flipped to Nickelodeon and and error message popped up on the screen. It said something like Error. Unsupported output. Please check your connections and try again. After flipping back to HD and then to regular, all was fine. I'm thinking that because i'm hooked up DVI (cable box) to HDMI (TV) the TV and cable box is all weird. A friend of mine has a new Moto HD box have HDMI connection. Should I swap out this box for an another one?
Well, I pretty much saw that type of "pop" to the picture from the Best Buy cable feed, and it did seem to look a lot more impressive than some LCDs around it, but even so, I'm eagerly going to see what larger sizes have as far as an effect.

I just picked up the 40v4100 from Best Buy less than 2 hours ago with a 12% off coupon from slickdeals.net (yesterday's deals). I called ahead and they said they had 3 in stock. They haven't even put one on display yet. Now I just have to get a HD cable box for the bedroom and figure out what to do with the huge 32" 4:3 Sony HD CRT the v4100 is replacing. Haven't tried an HD-DVD yet, but SD cable looks great.

Great deal! I only got mine at 10% off from CC last week.

hmm....maybe the V4100 is somewhat like a 60hz TV that has AMP/motionflow? or maybe it's a poor man's W4100 or samsung 650, but without the 120hz?

either way, it's good to have it as a feature, and the v4100 should have a big advantage over most standard 60hz because it is great for people who like the soap opera effect but don't want to pay extra for it.
nice pics. PQ is excellent. these new ones definitely look better than the last.
I realized that the KDL-37XBR6 is the same price as the KDL-40V4100. I was just wondering if the 40V4100 is missing any features that the 37XBR6 has. To me it doesn't seem like there's a difference except those 3 extra inches.
Well, time for the verdict. Do you, or do you not think that the V4100 will dethrone the all popular Samsung A550 in terms of features and quality? To me, it seems like it's got quite a punch, but for some reason, I couldn't compare the V4100 directly with the A550, since BB didn't have them side-by-side, at least not to my knowledge.

I hope you realize you just said the V4100 is greater than the A550. I don't think that's what you meant to say, seeing as how your sig seems to indicate you own a A550? Although I could be wrong.

I'm actually very interested in hearing your perspective, since I also owned an LN-T4061F and thought it was mediocre at best. (looks like you owned one). Bad grain, lack of sharpness in picture, generally unimpressive.

And I am considering the V4100 and A550 or A650 as replacement. I currently have a V4100 in my home from Circuit City (will be returning but only because I have ton of Amazon credit but wanted to test TV first). It is MUCH MUCH better in every way than the 4061F was, and I actually get the window effect on this TV, it is so clear and natural looking with nice deep blacks.

I still haven't 100% made up my mind though between the 550, V4100 and 650, so your input if you have compared would be awesome. I know the 650 should be better than the 2 as it's on another tier, but I am actually leaning more towards the value buy of the other 2 models, rather than spending an extra few hundred.

Do you find the A550 is light years ahead of the 4061F in PQ? And what processor did you have on 4061F, Trident or Cortez? I had Cortez, but I have heard the Trident was superior for PQ.

Is anyone else really loving the TV Guide feature on this TV? I don't have a cablebox and yet I can pull up a guide similar to one you would have with digital cable. It tells me what shows are in HD, lets me search, and the channel programming info shows up in the display pane at the top of the screen when I change channels.\\

Nice touch.
