Incredible! I wonder if they weren't able to sell off their warehouse full of 8-track tapes to pay for their web domain fees!

Remember to do a refresh to see if a page is current. You could still have an old view in cache that your browser may bring up, depending on browser and settings the old view could persist on your machine for a long time. Just about everyone gets tripped up by that at some time.

Well maybe some will. Not me I am happy with the new RCA800b1 with Smart antenna and passthru. I do not need S-video
Coming in June 15th

Now If one of my boxes break then I might be interested in a new box. Of course not for $60 or $50 but for $40 with no coupon.

I am afraid that the manufacture you found was part of the problem as to why MM has no box. A small part I bet, but I do not trust the box coming out of this factory.

Of course Taiwan is more stable then China. quality for my product is much better in China. Not sure of converter boxes.

Word of advice. I would not pay in advance to a factory I never seen. They on the other hand won't trust you with credit. So do a letter of Credit. This will ensure delivery time and safe guard you. More then Prepay.

I do wish you luck and you can PM me importing questions anytime.

BTW Try a different browser to post here and/or clear your cashe

However, when trying to go to their home page a few moments ago, instead of seeing the "Coming Soon" announcement that has displayed for several weeks, the following was displayed with both the IE 7 and Opera browsers:

"503 Service Unavailable
The address you requested is currently unavailable due to billing issues. Please try again later.

For support, please contact Customer Service."

Hmmm...just to see what would happen, I tried clicking on the "Great, I want it now" link that's on their product information page. That link worked earlier today, but no longer. The following was displayed instead:

"Not Found

The requested URL /buy was not found on this server.
Apache/2.0.46 (Red Hat) Server at www.convertmy.tv Port 80"

I e-mailed them and got a response within hours. June is still delivery date and they still offer the sasonic.

The site is as dead as dead can be currently. None of the links are working as of 5:10 pm eastern.

5:16 pm...some glimmer of hope, as the home page is back up, the same as it was before...with the "coming soon" notation.

This is what I received. Does this make you guys feel any better? They/He still is answering e-mails
Yes you do ... thank you for your reply. We have been told by Maxmedia - JUNE. That is all we can confirm. We have the Sansonic FT300As in stock. ($5 would be refunded on your Credit Card if you accepted the Sansonic at any point you wish.)

Otherwise, we promise to deliver Maxmedia's CECB (when it gets certified) THE MOMENT it is ready.

Thanks,
CMTV

AND

Dear Sir,

If you have an order on file with us, your order will be filled with Maxmedia's MMDTVB02 which they have told us will ship in June. We do have the Sansonic FT300As in stock and available for immediate shipment. Thank you for your patience.

With the convertmy.tv web page going 503 I sent customer service an email this morning. I asked several questions about the status of the MMDTVB02 and their standing with the NTIA coupon program.

Basically I said if they could not provide acceptable answers I expected a credit to the card I used to order the MMDTVB03 for $59.99. I received a prompt reply without any specific answers to my questions but the following:

You can re-order at that time.

Thank you for your understanding.
CMTV"

Hopefully they can eventually provide what they jumped the gun on selling or get an answer from the NTIA on coupon reimbuesement or replacement. The risk of cancelling the order as they did to me is the possibility of a higher price when the MM box becomes available.

In any event, it appears that they have not closed shop and left town (yet).

Who said anything about the need of feeling better? I, like several others, simply found it very odd that the entire site appeared to be going belly up...and the message displayed last night about the home page not being available because of billing issues was most CERTAINLY enough to warrant raising an eyebrow.

I was quick to note though, if you'll check my previous response again, that their home page was ***finally*** back up as of an hour ago or so...at least that's something.

Agreed, I just thought you and others would feel more at ease since Memsen answers his e-mails/

We have the specifications for the Apex DT250 with Analog Pass-Through, S-Video and Smart Antenna. It is not available for purchase yet.
Four converter boxes were removed from the NTIA CECB list. The MaxMedia MMDTVB03, EchoStar TR-40, (which has been replaced by the DTVPal) and the DigitalStream D2A1D10 and D2A1D20.
The DISH Network DTVPal is the redesigned EchoStar TR-40 and is now on the NTIA's CECB list. It will be available mid-June.
These are the recently added NTIA approved CECBs
bringing the total to 80!
Skardin DTR-0727L*
Apex DT500
Clear Tech CTDCB100
CASTI CAX-02*
Alpha Digital AT2016
DISH Network DTVPal*
Check the middle of the Coupon Program page to see when your coupons will arrive in the mail based on your application date.

I wonder how many of these boxes will actually ever make it to the market. This is a list of 80 me-too products to serve a market that will never be bigger than it is today and will continually decrease until it disappears. The early birds will certainly get most of the worms.
This list is actually shorter than it looks because most are clones.
Some models will never be seen for sure, as the companies such as digital stream, did new boxes and i presume asked to have the earlier models taken off the list as they will
never be so ld. :P

Oh and the "me too" Zoran makes a reference set top box.. go to their site and take a look... The Tivax box and i assume others used it as a basis to get started.

I was looking at the Denver, CO OTA thread because my brother lives there and also enjoyed this.
I am posting in the MaxMedia because it seemed like the most appropriate thread.

This is one reason why I truly haven't wanted to spring for a high definition television. 20 years ago I would have been begging for one, had they been available, but television plays less and less a part of my life any longer. The digital converter is fine for now.

Their support forum at maxmedia-usa.com is still a ghost town, and there's no image of the new version of the MaxMedia that they've been promising for weeks. Here's the last forum posting at their site, dated 5/20. There is, of course, no response:

<<<<government coupon program 1 Week, 2 Days ago Karma: 0
I ordered two of the Maxmedia converter boxes with my coupons.
It seems there are many issues with the box. I was told the NTIA can't refund the coupon money once the coupon is used. What is the answer to resolve the credit of the coupon. I used the website convert my tv.com to order to boxes and the delivery date has been changed to june 7. I would like to know if I wish to cancel the boxes how does my government get to issue me new coupons and where did the coupon mony get put. At this time I am in the dark just as other who ordered the same box ant the forum comments don't look good. Can I get some kind of a answer to what the plan is to deliver the boxes.
Thank you,
Frank P>>>>>>

Will Convert My TV & MaxMedia deliver the goods within this time frame?

A significant second question is: assuming the MaxMedia boxes actually ship before June 30, will the units function as promised? Will adequate quality control have been undertaken? Will the units work properly?
Convert My TV & MaxMedia are not the only ones holding up any sign of a converter box in June.

Don't forget it has to be approved by the NTIA and be put on the list of approved converter boxes.

Subject: Your order with ConvertMy.TV

Date: June 2, 2008

To our customers who ordered a MaxMedia Converter Box:

ConvertMy.TV was notified by MaxMedia that a chipset quality issue was detected impacting channel reception of the MMDTVB03 Converter Box you ordered. Due to these problems, MaxMedia indicated their plans to redesign the Converter Box using a different, higher quality chipset from another source. We were told that this new box would be available for shipment in mid-June. MaxMedia is currently informing us that the new box will not be available until a future undetermined date. We at ConvertMy.TV can no longer represent MaxMedia product given these circumstances and repeated delays. The impact of these repeated MaxMedia supply delays on ConvertMy.TV has been devastating. The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), Department of Commerce has decertified ConvertMy.TV for redeeming coupons for MaxMedia orders that remain unfulfilled and for which ConvertMy.TV cannot provide a timely ship date. We at ConvertMy.TV have been working diligently with the NTIA to treat our customers correctly and resolve these unexpected issues. We have cancelled your unfulfilled order with ConvertMy.TV and returned the value of your coupons to the NTIA for deposit in the U.S. Treasury as is required by Coupon Program regulations. NTIA will be contacting you soon regarding the coupons you have already redeemed.

Once again, we are very disappointed and want to sincerely apologize to you about this situation it caught us, like you, by surprise. My partners had big plans for ConvertMy.TV, including an agreement to source converter boxes and share revenues with one of the largest Christian churches in the United States. Without the ability to process coupons, we may be forced to close our doors and dreams.

We want to personally thank you very much for your business and patience. We have spoken to many of you over the phone and you all have been very kind and supportive and wanted to let you know that we appreciate your understanding.

Convert My TV Team

boldface mine.

Thanks for the news TalkingRat.

I wonder if Convert My TV or MaxMedia-USA sent a eMail to their customers.
I do see that what you posted is also on the ConvertMy.TV site.

Strange how the NTIA has never released a Press Release for Convert My TV or MaxMedia-USA you would think this would have been news.
