The IR4PS3 Works just as promised - Page 2

Ronnie: I e-mailed him again, and he responded within the hour to send me the pdf (after I posted my last comment) and the paypal info. Then I sent him another e-mail telling him what I wanted, which shipping method, and told him that my paypal transfer went through.
He said that he is getting all the parts today and tomorrow, and will be shipping Thursday or Friday.

Really?? Well, I'm emailing him again right now, see if I can get my order going...

Cheers,
Ron

Order is in - Ben is shipping me a fully assembled/tested unit tomorrow. $120, including a power adapter, Xantech IR emitter and the fully assembled/tested IR4PS3. But for me, having 1 remote for my system, and not using the PS3 controller to watch a BD, is well well worth it.

EDIT - Yikes, correction - $131!! Still worth it. Probably be turning on the PS3 most of the time via the controller or manually when I insert a BD, but it will be sooooooo sweet to control the PS3 with the Harmony while watching said BD...

How is this a better solution? The IR4PS3 is IMO better as it uses proprietary Sony parts from the BT remote...

The Schmart solution also uses the "insides" of a real Sony PS3 remote.

Ronnie: Did you get shipping confirmation already? I haven't yet. Makes me wonder if Ben had some complete models in stock, as I ordered just the kit, since I already have a PS3 remote.

Schmart ships same day you order.

I have bought 4 of his units.

I ordered late yesterday, and Ben said he would ship today. No confirmation at this time. I don't think Ben had any complete models in stock, as I asked if I could order a unit days ago, and he said no, because he was waiting for the necessary parts to arrive, which they did yesterday.

Today 10:24a PDT, I received a confirmation # from Ben for my shipped IR4PS3. Very very exciting.

People were complaining about no response from Ben.

Therefore - I wanted people to know there are others.

I never even mentioned them by name.

Right - you did worse - you provided a competitor's direct link.

I see from your contribution score - 197 - that you
are a relative Newbie. Welcome!

FYI - You won't find an AVS thread on any product
that doesn't at sometime or other talk and compare
other products.

Maybe so but this thread is explicit to the IR4PS3 about the promise that it works. Please refrain from advertising another product here. Ben has been very quick on the response with most people but due to alot of requests since one of his competitors had a minor hiccup with the 2.40 F/W update he has been swamped with requests.

On another note...

Finally got around to putting this baby together this morning and followed the instructions and everything is GREAT! No more BT remote!

I am using a URC MX-900 with MRF-300 and David Tonks CCF file and Custom 1 per Ben's instructions. This was very easy to not only put it together but to register the IR4PS3 to the Sony.

One thing though that I have to mention is that David's file doesn't incorporate the 2.41 F/W with the "Power Off" from the XMB which I am working on now. I'll keep you all posted.

Ben, Great job and thanks for the quick response, fast shipment and quality product!

Bob

Bob, a couple questions that I'm not sure if they effect me or not. What is David Tonks CCF file? What is CCF? When you refer to "Custom 1 per Ben's instructions", do you refer to the Custom PS3 1 (26.35) (Logitech database) ('Clear' '1' '0')? What exactly does that do?

Mine is in-route, in the USA, at least. It shipped Wednesday, I'm hoping I may receive it today.

Thanks,
Ron

Got it in yet, Ronnie? I got the 8 day shipping, so hopefully Friday I'll have mine. It shipped Wed. also.
Unfortunately, no. It may still come today, but it's already 5:25p local time, so it's looking less likely, though UPS does continue to deliver through early evening. If it doesn't come today, I won't get it until Monday. Shoot.

Roonie,

The ccf file is a pronto file that is used for Pronto, URC, etc.. remotes not the Harmony. Ben's instructions are to use the custom 2 for that ccf file so again not for the Harmony. The point I was trying to make is that the support from the community as well as Ben's instructions are fantastic!

I see. Thanks for clarifying.

Right, Ben's support has been tremendous.

Didn't receive my IR4PS3 yesterday - darn. The last update at 'Canada Post' is 7/10 7:13p (not sure what timezone), "International shipment has arrived in the destination country".

Unfortunately that's all you get from them until the USPS delivers it...they do get confirmation though that it was delivered, that is all the USPS will provide...
Oh, USPS, huh? Yeah, that sounds right. Hmm, still wondering what my first non-Sony controller BD movie will be...
mine still says "item accepted at the post office" with wednesdays date!
Really? Are you in the US? If so, you'd think you would have received it between Wed and Sat.
Texas, but I opted for the 8 to 9 day shipping.

Mine was National Treasure 2. Good movie!

Ordered the DIY kit yesterday...I will hopefully have it by next weekend.

$53.29 shipped!

As long as it works, and based on the comments in this thread I have no reason to suspect that it won't, I'll back in the One Remote To Rule Them All area!
