0. Set the TV onto an unused source so you have a black or blue screen. This makes reading the menu easier in later steps.
1. Turn the TV off.
2. On the remote, press MUTE, 1, 8, 2, POWER
3. The TV will turn on into service mode. It takes a few seconds after powering on to display the service menu.
4. Using the arrow buttons on the remote, go down to Option Byte and press Enter.
5. Arrow down to "Lvds Tx Fmt" and press Enter.
6. Using the right and left arrow buttons, change the setting. Mine was set to JEIDA. Setting it to VESA fixed things.
7. Press Menu to exit.
8. Turn the TV off to apply the changes.
Also, check the info from the link I posted (below) to make sure that a few other settings in Option Byte are correct for your tv.

Thanks to you and this forum for posting this information! I went to the Samsung website and found firmware update for my LN-T4061F....downloaded it onto a flash drive, stuck it in the back of my flat screen and....*&^%*&^!###!!!!!.
Bad thing was....I was doing all this at 11:30PM before going to bed and knew the wife would be getting up in the morning to watch the weather. I remembered this website and this forum and found your fix...never had to call Samsung and listen to their BS about not updating firmware - I was up and going in a matter of minutes (after a few tries with the remote to get the service screen to come up). Again....TY..TY...TY.
And for my money - if I would've found this post to begin with, I probably WOULD NOT have updated my firmware; I didn't notice any difference to be honest and the sickness in my stomach was definitely NOT worth it! Save yourself the grief..."If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

I have a Samsung LN-T4661F. I downloaded the firmware update, did it all just like the .pdf manual instructs and now no power, no picture, no sound. Bought the tv in 8/07 (of course, now 2 months out of warranty). Samsung says I should have never tried to "update" the firmware and I'm on my own. Help.
