Help - DVD player produces moire pattern on plasma

Since I upgraded my primary display to plasma, I noticed that the good old DVD player that I had no trouble past 4 years produces faint, fast-moving moire pattern. It is mostly visible in static pictures, like still frames or menus.

It does not affect viewing on dynamic video, but it really annoys me when navigating DVD menus. I've tried different inputs, outputs, a bunch of different cables but it does not help - the moire is always there as long as DVD is connected!

Is it a DVD player defect, or is there an external solution? I appreciate any help. The devices are Sony DVP-NS900V and Pioneer PRO110FD if it matters.

Component input? 50 or 60hz? What resolution output from player?

The problem occurs with all inputs and moire visibility is roughly the same.

It's 60Hz.

Player output is standard 480p.

If it happens with digital input then it could be some uknown issue in the player (won't know till you try another) or it could be a power issue. Also, i'd turn off any type of "pixel orbiter" in the plasma (they're useless anyway).

It would be helpful to know what plasma and what DVD player, since users of either might have noticed the problem. What you describe sounds like it could be RF interference, so the cables you use, or their connectors may be at fault. Check all connections to be sure they are tight and cables are in good condition. Swap cables and see if that helps. Otherwise, try a newer DVD player, especially one with HDMI output.
