A local store (Fry's) has the 65733 for $400 less than the 65735. I understand the 65733 is last year's model. I've read reports about fan noise on that set, but I don't think that will be an issue for me.
When I read the specs, I see that the 65735 has HDMI 1.3a (vs. just 1.3). I'm not sure I understand the implications. The 65735 is also "3D Ready". 3D capability is not something I really care about. Is anyone using this?
Are there any compelling reasons to justify the extra $400 for the 65735?
Were there any big problems on the 65733 that have now been fixed?
I plan to drive the set from a comcast cable box, but will move to an A/V reciever before too long.
In multiple stores with crappy to great lighting I am impressed with the TI DarkChip4 in the new models. The brightness, black levels, and contrast are immediately seen with even the most decent picture source.
I don't know what you are paying but you get EASILY get the 65735 for <1800

I didn't see the TI DarkChip4 listed in the spec on the Mit site. Is this something in both the 736 & 735, or the 736 only? Is there another name for this? (DeepField Imager - just a guess).

I'm looking at 65735 for $1699 vs. 65733 for $1299 (sale ends today).
Have you looked at a test pattern for geometry? Have you hooked up a source to look for over scan?
No, not yet. I would like to hook up my computer to test, however I don't have a DVI-HDMI cable around. I'll probably order one with the next few days so I can take a look.
Would someone with the 65735 mind measuring the base of the TV. I know it will overhang the sides of my stand but as long as the whole base sits on the stand I'll be ok with it.
Well, according to the press release and for what we know right now... the 735, 736 and 835 (Diamonds) -ALL- have the following:
• 1080p HDTV resolution
• Texas Instruments Dark Chip 4 DMD
• Improved five-color wheel
• Thinner frames
• Increased brightness
• HDMI-CEC control and 3-D-ready capability
• Six-color processor for enhanced color saturation
And the 736 adds the following on top of the above:
• Different cosmetic design
• Wired IR
• NetCommand
• DeepField Imager contrast enhancement
• 1 front HDMI input
And the 835 (Diamond) adds the following on top of the above:
• High gloss back cosmetic design with blue-light accents
• Smooth120Hz frame-rate conversion
• Dark Detailer, which further enhances image detail in dark areas
I'm sure there are other subtle differences as well. I didn't see any mention of the built-in "TV Guide" features that the last series had so who knows if maybe only the Diamond will feature this.
Okay....I'll bite.....
I purchased the 65833 in March 08. I'm not seeing any significant differences listed here between mine and the "new" 65835, except for the TI DMD? (I don't really count "improved" and "increased")
I'm wondering the same thing. I don't know why they would bring out a couple of new models without bringing out their flagship model. Two local stores near me said between July and September but they have no clue so I'm hoping someone here has heard something different.
Also, I wonder how the 736 model compares to the current 833 model. I'm wondering if it is still better to get the 833 model even though it doesn't have the new darkchip 4.
The comparison shots from CES with the DC3 vs DC4 were quite impressive.... I am sure you can find them on google. From just being in stores, the 65" DC4 looks quite impressive under some bad lighting conditions (bb etc)
Does anyone see the rainbow effect on 735?, I probably will if I see it on my new, led 61 a750, and bulb versions. I doubt a new chip would have any change to that but I just want to ask. I dont want to have to give up on the rear projections. And the 60" sony hard to come by now.

I was at the local BB/Magnolia this morning. They still have the 73833 on display and don't have either the 735/756 models. I'm going to wait until the 736/835 models come out.
Do you really think the 736 justifiies the cost of the $100 at "abt" etc. The only real differnece (who does not have a harmony or unified remote) is the dynamic contrast enhancer. However, most people end up disabling this (for games etc). Also the plain black of teh 736 is not as nice as the grey bottom accent on the 735.
Well the 736 has the dynamic contrast adjustment in "136" AREAS of the screen. It is my understanding this will mess up games (like XBOX360 etc) - correct?
Anyone compare the new 65735/6 to the LED Samsung A750 series before buying. To be honest, in the "stores" the new DC4 and bulb simply have so much better brightness for whites (real white) and black levels... however, i would have thought the LED sets would be more reliable and better color sharpeness AND black levels. So .... anyone get to compare these 2 under GOOD conditions/settings?
I bought the 65735 last week and after reading some negative posts on the bulb life of the Mitsubishis I decided to take it back and go with the Sammy A750 series..To be honest, I am still trying to decide between the two..I hate to admit it because I really like feeling safe with LED, but from what I've been able to compare thus far, it looks like the 65735 has a slightly brighter and better picture..does anyone else agree with this?
