Reversing back dipole surrounds

Thread Starter
I have seen a couple of posts on this forum that recommend reversing back dipole surrounds. Could somebody explain this further. If I use two identical surround speakers tagged "left", one for my left surround and one for my left back surround, won't these speakers be in phase with one another? Same for the rights?

Thanks,
Mike

I would think if you use two dipoles, both left speakers on the same side, the drivers facing (or closest) would be out of phase and some cancellation would occur.

Mike,

Do a search on this forum for the thread titled "Correct Placement of Dipoles for EX/ES". Philip Brandes had excellent information on this subject and an answer to your question.

I don't recall which section the discussion was in.
