I just wanna say that I spent alot of time at my local BB looking at newer LCD sets and I cant say that its time to upgrade yet. I was not overly impressed with the B750 PQ wise it didnt seem better than the A750. the 240hz didnt seem to be much better than the 120. Overall even the LED LCD's didnt make me go "wow that is sooo much better than my set that I need to get it."
I think maybe theres some cool new "options" on newer sets but PQ wise I must say I am very happy with my 750. I had a xbox game night at my house and we had my LG 47' 120hz LCD, my 750 and a 46 Sony XBR 120hz all in the same room. My friends all liked the PQ on my samsung even my die hard Sony fanboy friend reluctantly admitted defeat.
Also the 120hz function introduced far less artifacts than the Sony or the LG. Anyways I am just a happy owner and probably a little biased.

The only problem with that suggestion is of the game you are playing doesn't support 1080p it defaults to 480p since the ps3 doesn't upscale ps3 games..

I game on PC as well as consoles there are many exclusives worthy of playing across all platforms... this will most definitely be my last Samsung due to their poor support for gaming.. the lag is hideous on this set and the pq in gaming mode is a joke....

+1 They really turned it around. It was more of a teenage drama than a superhero show before.

Well I got bad news for ya they are all just as bad. Even worse this year. Might be time to buy a cheap TN monitor or a CRT for your gaming needs.

Scaling = Lag and all the processing they keep adding into TVs does not help.

If anything you should complain to Sony for making a 1080p game console that doesn't have the horse power to play any decent 1080p games. One reason why my PS3 is Blu Ray only and no gaming goes on with it.

Well from what I have been reading some of the other manufacturers LCDs allow you to adjust PQ settings while in game mode (sony for example) and why Samsung doesn't allow that seems like a major oversight/poor design decision. Sony made many poor design decisions with the PS3 but atleast it isn't defective like the 360 is. Point is though Samsung and other tv manufacturers need to strike a balance between processing/pq and input lag. Noone likes watching the equivalent of an old Kung Fu flick every time they watch tv. Also as many gamers as there are now they should as well be taking into consideration input lag and gaming.
Don't get me wrong I understand all about input lag, I'm an ex unreal junkie. Only way I felt like I was 100% on my game was the VGA input. The only TVs I've seen with decent response are the Panasonic LCDs, only problem is they are 37" max.

I'm not sure what the Sony TVs are doing but I know Samsung offers an adjustable game mode this year too and it still looks like *crap* and the input lag is still very high. If I was still playing competitively I would personally keep a small sized monitor around just for gaming.

I had this exact feel. I went to BB couple weeks ago to scope out a B8500, and I was not impressed by the PQ. BB sales guy said it was not cal'ed and the picture would be better in my home on my DishNet. I was like 'right'. I have a A750 and the PQ is awesome. I run 120 AMP in off anyway, so I dont notice any better per say on that feature.

The LED was no better either at BB, however, I went to Sam's and looked at the Vizio and it did have a better PQ than maybe what I have today, but not much.

there is no problem in the suggestion as it addresses the question sufficiently. The problem is in the game developers supporting the 1080p upscaling (i.e COD4/WAW/MW2).

I have the halo-issue with my 52A750 and had 3 weeks left of my 15 months warranty.
They said, they send a repair guy with a new bezel.

Received another call 2 days before the appointment and learned the TV will be replaced.
So there are definitely any bezels out there and they are replacing the TV.
From my PoV I think this is great and great customer service, even though a little complicated.

I agree that this is outstanding customer service - I certainly did not expect to get an exchange for brand new LN46B750 nearly 14 months after I purchased my LN46A750.

A good suggestion no offense would take into account all of the facts and since that "solution" doesn't account for that limitation its obviously not feasible or adequate. We can not change the fact that many ps3 games do not support 1080p resolutions so therefore forcing the ps3 to output only 1080p HD resolutions is not a valid solution for this issue.

As a side note the only way this tv is really playable in online competitive gaming is using game mode and as well all know game mode is very painful to look at. I noticed the horrid amount of input lag on this set way back when I first got it as a replacement for a 71F which had lots of stutter but had a lot less input lag than this set. Way back then people in this forum attacked me and called me a liar and all kinds of horrible things for pointing out the extreme amount of input lag on this tv. I've stayed away for a long while now but glad to see that finally it seems cooler heads have prevailed and the input lag on this tv is pretty much a common known fact now. I just wish I would have known this before getting it as i never would have had I known.

I would think that if you're an avid gamer, input lag would be one of the main considerations and something you'd check out carefully BEFORE buying a TV.

Hi guys - playing FIFA 10 and sometimes during the replays it stutters. I think it's the tv. Any idea? Maybe the processor is causing it so I have to play in game mode (which stinks so I'll live with it).

Also - I just mounted my A750 so if anyone is interested in the A750 stand, pm me and we can make a deal.

Thanks

I really don't think it's the TV. What platform are you playing FIFA 10 on (PS3, 360)?

360 version -

In fact - the ball will sometimes get that jitter motion (gets worse with AMP). I think if i played it on game mode it would be fine.

Luckily it happens my once every 10 games so it;'s not a big deal.

Agreed. looks like we are back to this topic again, input lag. I dont know what "competitive gaming" is but I game alot and I have a 23' sammy monitor with 2ms pixel response I use from time to time for gaming. I must say input lag is not noticable to me between the two. I went as far as hooking up my monitor via VGA and using a wired controller to see the difference and cant really tell. I game online with friends and input lag has never been an issue. I think its a good point if you were really such a competitive gamer you would have done the research. Also game mode does not look terrible to me I dont know maybe Im color blind and have horrible lag in my brain.

After waiting exactly 1 month to the day, Samsung called me and offered to replace my LN52A750 with a LN55B650.

The tech said that they could not order parts for the 750 and this was the best he could do.

My TV's bezel was separating and also experienced the halo effect.

I have to say the end result was great, I did have to call them several times and e-mail them for an answer.

Honestly I loved the 750 and would have taken another one in a minute.

This is my first posting here been reading This forum for a year now ever since i got my 52a750 i have been reading about halo never really bothered to look for it on my but since my warranty was up on november 1 of this year i started looking for the halo and its there not that bad but its there so i called samsung customer service and set up an appoinment for service so on the day of the service i get a call from samsung and they said that the bezel was on backorder so they said call back in two weeks i waited two weeks called back and they told me that i am going to recieve a call from samsung executive customer service i recieved a call from them this past friday the rep told me that the part is no longer available and that they approved an exchange for my tv and they are bringing me a new in the box 52b750 even though my warranty was up oh i forgot to mention its going to be an even exchange now my question is isnt a b750 better than a a 750 and how come it was so easy with customer service for the exchange any input will be greatly appreciated.

Guys - i see mention of film mode auto 1 and auto 2. However my film mode on the A750 only offers Auto. How did you get the two options? I ask b/c i'm getting that blurry text when it scrolls on espn.

OK - see that i need the updated fw. hmmmm - is it worth it? i haven't updated yet but you lose your settings right? Is the PQ any better with the FW?

EDIT 2 - haha, just realized this is only for 480i (SD). forget it.

thanks

I'm considering my options for service/replacement of my 750 due to an increasing amount of clouding. I don't know if a tech will attempt to fix the screen or since the A750s are old shoe, replace it all together with a B750.

Basically my concerns are:

1) Should Samsung send out a tech to fix the problem, I don't want him/her to rough up my set (I know...what a priss). This is all assuming they have the required parts to replace the panel.

2) If a B750 replacement is in order, does anyone actually consider it an upgrade? I've read a few complaints about juddering and such on other forums.

Any suggestions?

Uhhh, it's for 1080i, as well. Yes, the update is worth it, film deinterlacing is broken in your firmware version.

Oh ok - so should I keep it on Auto 2 for the whole time or what is the recommended film mode option?

Auto1 for film/24p based sources, Auto2 for content that has video overlays such as stock/information tickers.
