CEVA showed up early, so I was not home when they unboxed the 750 with my wife.

Amongst all the packaging they left behind were two rectangular pieces of black plastic, about 2" x 3" each, with some kind of grommet in the center. I assume these are some kind of shipping material -- can anyone confirm?

Set looks fantastic. Unfortunately, I have work do do right now and can't play with it. My kids are playing Mario Kart Wii, and have not complained about lag yet....

Yes.. they're the thing that holds the bottom of the box to the main box...

Thanks. Told my wife to ask them to leave all packing materials. Looks liked they opened it by slicing the bottom of the box off, and they did not leave it (the bottom) behind. Hope I don't need to return this puppy. Come to think of it, I hope the UPC code was not on the bottom -- need that for the free LinkStick....

EDIT: never mind, I think I see how this was packaged. What I thought was internal packaging was actually the bottom, which nests inside the box, held in place by those clips. I guess it is packaged so you can cut the straps and lift the top off the bottom.

When I initially set up my tv I believe I hit something that says display on dynamic. Now if I change my settings it reverts back to dynamic in about half an hour. I even turn off that melody and it still comes back. Does anybody know how to stop it from doing that?

Yup, both my 4069, and the 750 that showed up today were that way, very smart design.

Unfortunately I won't get to be testing things as it seems somewhere along the lines the paperwork was messed up.

My 4069 is at a service center hired by Samsung, so they sent out the new TV and set up to have the old one shipped from the service center to them.

They used KW International to do the shipping, who sub-contracted CEVA, who got it to Dallas then sub-contracted a company called Ark-La-Tex. Somewhere in there the two separate shipping items became an on-site swap.

So two guys showed up in a truck and dropped off the TV and asked for the new one. I told them where it was and they said no problem and went out to the truck. 3 minutes later, as I was unboxing, they came back and said their boss told them they had to take it back. So they put it back on the truck and left.

My contact at Samsung is working on it trying to get it back today, but Ark-La-Tex is claiming there is no way to do it today.

I'd like to say I'm hopping mad and that this is ludicrous, but in the grand scheme of what I've gone through since April when my 4069 failed, this was pretty much expected. Even my wife commented before going to work that she 'wouldn't believe it until it was on the TV stand with at least a week's worth of dust on it.'

You have it set to shop mode. Check the manual on how to get it set back to normal.

This is a feature for sets on display at a store, so a customer can come up and totally muck up the settings, and then it will fix itself.

He had his power on input delay at 10s and was having trouble, so I looked at mine and it is set at 13s. He said 13s works fine for him now.

Anyway, 13s is quite a long time. I have no idea why it needs that much time, except Samsung wants to 'warm up' the TV slightly before doing too much else to it.

I suspect that it is actually booting up, then doing HDCP with the current connected device. These things are computers, as far as I'm concered the power on time is par for the course.

Wow dude, sorry for your issues. Hopefully soon you'll have this beautiful beast in your house and this will all be a bad memory.

Stiles, they are new owners, and new owners are going to ask questions, and these questions get the same answer each time. It is the source they are using, nothing has changed as far as the answer to those questions.

Now if the whole thread was full of "OMG, I see banding", then I would be worried. New owners asking for answers to things they see, thats why you see this being asked.

Hi I had set the date and time on this lcd but every time i turn the TV on the date and time is not there. Is there a way to save it?
The time and date are set with an over the air antenna,so you have to have an OTA
antenna hooked up to have it work in auto,or else just set it manually.

Stiles,

Like you I have been waiting a long time. Just took delivery of a 40" 750, and it is fantastic.

I haven't spent much time with it, but can see no banding, clouds, flashlighting or purple haze. And believe me, after following this and the 650 thread since the day each was created, I have been looking hard for defects.

Anyone think that spraying a little Static-Guard on a microcloth and then wiping the bezel is a bad idea? We get a lot of dust stick to the bezel (not the screen). . .
I'm debating the exact same thing on the 46" level. I've yet to even see a Z4100 on store shelves here in the Cleveland area. Up until then, I'm definitely 100% behind the A750 until I see otherwise. Who knows? By the time I pull the trigger (which will be the time when my stimulus check clears and maybe a pay period after that), it may be too late, and I will have gotten this model. Wish that Sony would've made sure we had some up here around launch to see them, but right now, seems like Samsung it is.

For those who have received their set within the past week or so from amazon, did you notice the set was abnormally dusty? Also, on one of the side edges of the set, i noticed some glue residue from where the bezel had been glued together. I'm wondering if this is pretty common for the 52" 750s?

Just as an update, i sent my set back to amazon. The set had extremely bad clouding over the entire screen, even at low backlight settings. The deep scratches on the back of the bezel also helped with my decision.

The PQ was noticeably better on the 750, as compared to my previous 71f set. With that in mind, i think i might try my luck with a 550 or 650. Because i will not be wall mounting the set, the stand MUST swivel. I believe that is the number one draw back with the 750. The 550 remains an option because i did still notice some of the AMP artifacts on the 750.

Edit: If Samsung made a 60Hz glossy screen set this year, i would be ALL OVER IT!

If you want to see the 750 exhibit the problems associated with AMP, here's a good example i posted over in the 71f thread a while back:

Well the 550 wont have any AMP artifacts, because it won't have AMP.

Why is the swivel mount such a big deal to folks? Do you move the mount that much? For my use, I set it and forget it.. Sure it's useful if you need to hookup things to the back, but after initial setup, who cares... =/

My brother in-law has a ln52a550, and man, the motion is pretty darn good on the 550. I've stated this in the past, but the 550 handles motion so well, AMP is almost not needed. Keep in mind, the 750 with AMP off looks totally different than the 550 @ 60Hz--In my opinion, the 550 handles motion better than the 750 with AMP off. If only the 550 came with a glossy screen, then i would have no hesitation making it my set.

As for the swivel stand, it's dependent on the person and the application...

Sorry you had bad luck with your 750, but you shouldnt give up on it. I have seen the 550 at Sams and Walmart, not impressed at all.

And swivel stand? Im surprised that is even an option on some sets, wth is the use?
Gang, I'm on the verge...after about a month of reading 1800 posts of so...I can get a 750 for less than $100 more than a 650. Any last words to push me over the edge, other than just "crap or get off the pot"? All I need is about five more guys to lug my old 35" out of the basement. 10 years ago I swore it would be there for the rest of my lifetime. But I digress...

Just continue to tell me this TV kicks ass, compares pretty well with plasma, is a blast to play Wii games on, PS3 in my future and the Nascar races will fly off the edges of the screen...it might be downpayment time tomorrow.

Ok, one more question, I have a 5 1/2" center channel speaker sitting on top of my current TV...how the hell am I going to setup with this TV? Put it behind it on my TV stand? I sure can't put it on top...

every set that has 120hz has artifacts and tbe, i've seen every 120hz set and they all had tbe of some sort or vapors you name it.

as for the 550, i previously owned it, and the motion is overrated, 8ms, 5ms, it was just as blurry, i dont blame the tv, just the technology of lcd. The matte screen was also kinda strange, it refracted light which made the matte coating turn almost a grey color washing out the picture a little compared to other types of matte lcd's. It's noise reducer was also kind of funky, turning it on often resulted in color latency, where the color shape of objects would lag behind the grey leaving a color shape blur of the moving object.

the 550 is good for the price but i'd rather even take the 580 instead, the coating just wasn't my thing. And I did miss AMP while having the 550, its just something that helps loads especially with how blurry lcd tech is.

Oh nooooooooooooooos... Don't do it, the world is coming to an end soon............

Seriously man, you're the only one ultimately who can be the best judge of this TV. Just do it and if it turns out to disappoint you, then ensure that you'll have a return option within 30 days. Good luck

yah thats a tough one, either make a center speaker stand/ shelf or i guess put it in front of the tv somehow.

Yeah, I noticed that my bezel attracts dust too while my screen does not. I've been afraid to touch my bezel at all after the reports of people scratching theirs.

I've had a 65f in the past too, and i can say the 550 blew the 65f out of the water as far as motion judder goes. I agree the colors and the overall look of the 550 isnt as good as either the 650 or 750, but that has a lot to do with a glossy screen vs. a semi-glossy (matte) screen, like that on the 550. If the 550 had a glossy screen, i personally believe it would be quite comparable to the 71f series, of course, without the "live" look of AMP.

The "matte" screen on the 550 reflects quite a bit as well, so i really dont understand why samsung chose to exclude a glossy version from this model line.

The PQ on the 750 and 650 is hard to beat--I just really cant stand the AMP artifacts still found on these sets.

Yeah, I scratched mine in two places. You can't see it unless you are in the right light, but still. I didn't use the microcloth the time I scratched, instead of a soft white cloth, but it must have kept some dirt/debris on it causing the scratches.

I might try the Static-Guard on a small piece on back of the bezel to see if it harms it or not.

We had a similar issue and haven't found a good solution yet. Right now it's taking up space where my cable box should sit (STB is on the side right now).

There is an omni-mount speaker/component shelf that is supposed to sit on an LCD TV, but I'm worried it won't support the speaker's weight.
