Yes, check your owner's manual, it's in there. I'd just tell you, but I can't remember how offhand.

This could be a good set to use some software on, unfortunately, there's no way that you can test the AMP through that, since the PC input won't allow for it.

You can connect a PC via HDMI and still have AMP with no issues (that i know of at least). I use one with my Blu Ray Drive and works great! The problem is in the GPU. Each one may respond differently depending on the supported HW acceleration for the codecs.

I also am using ZeroGs calibration settings and find them to be excellent for deep blacks without crush and saturated colors without looking un-natural.

Mosh~~

Mosh, can you explain what your uneven audio symptoms were?

I was listening to test tones on the AviaII disc, and noticed that my set seems to lack bass in the right channel. I even swapped left and right inputs to be sure, and still the right channel sounds like a tin can.

I think I had it on a pre-set, but cannot be sure at this point.

I didn't really want to hit 1007, since I prefer the lower AMP (actually, I have been leaving it off most of the time.) But if it will fix the audio, I'm gonna have to do it.

There is an omni-mount speaker/component shelf that is supposed to sit on an LCD TV, but I'm worried it won't support the speaker's weight.

I'm going to buy two, black boards to bump up the TV another 1/2 inch or so...however, it's not that big a deal...center channel sitting right in front.

HDMI2 has an audio input because if you hook it up to a PC with a DVI port, you need a way to get audio to the TV (DVI does not carry audio.) But other posters have reported getting audio from a PC via HDMI on this port.

HDMI2 is special, though because it is the only input that that:
  1. Has separate audio input you can use if you PC has DVI out
  2. Performs EDID data exchange with the video card when labeled as "PC"
But I believe that it can be used as a standard HDMI input as well.

EDID exchange is also given when not labeled as PC.

I have a G35 GPU and use the HDMI2 input (not labeled as PC) for video as well as audio concurrently.

Interestingly enough, I have the opposite problem the OP is having: I cannot get the RCA audio inputs to work when connecting to my HTPC and used seperately from HDMI.

I really love the price tags in the "Rainforest" on this set, definitely making me want this even more now.

i know you guys are gonna snicker at me for this but.. i was about to get the 750 but it wasn't on sale at fry's. But i stared at it for like an hour and i truely just cant get passed the toc. I know samsung backlights tend to learn toward the blue/purpleish side and it just doesn't mix well with me with that toc, especially with movie widescreen black bars.

I have a moderately lit lighting arrangement. I can honestly tell you the TOC is muted and not that obvious. I was just as turned off by that when I read the reviews. Don't worry about the packaging. You are buying for the quality image.

2417 was the lowest I have seen with no shiiping and white gloves. And if a 4th of July price came along, you do have 30 days to get a lower price.

They want to blast you, lol. I can do what you want on my reciever, but since I don't use the tv sound, I am not sure if there is a function for that or not. If there is, you would probably find it in the Sound Menu or Setup Menu.

Well, I finally pulled the trigger on an LN46A750 !!! I have been lurking in these forums since the 65 series came out. Almost bought a 71, almost bought an A650. Could not resist 1930 bucks with free white glove shipping !! I can't wait to pair this up to my recently acquired Onkyo TX-SR605 and Panasonic DMP-BD30K.

I'm like studdad, I don't use the TV's sound. But I did notice that there is an Auto Volume option in the sound menu on the TV. I assume that is what it is meant for or not, but worth a try.

K: Do you think Bluray is significantly better than a 1080p upconverter? What with the extra cost of the disks (unless you use something like Netflix). I'll move this to the avs forum...its a better medium for these questions.

Yes, and it works well!

Hi

I just got a 40" 750 and I have a quick question. Are the 750 sets only suitable for use with 110V or are they, like some Sony sets, usable with 110-220V?

Thanks!
Javier
Yeah, that surprised me that you could easily get this model for right around the same figure that they always sold the 650 at for the longest time. That definitely makes this more well worth the step-up than ever now. Yeah, I think I found something to be proud of.

Hello everyone. I am familiar with this site, but only in passing. I have tried reading all the previous posts to find an answer to my question but have been unlucky so far.

I just got my 750 and when the installer came he automatically updated the firmware so I have never seen the effects of the 1004. While I am absolutely amazed with the picture, I am concerned about this "AMP". I do not want it off, low does not seem to be enough, medium and high seem to work fine except for the VERY VERY annoying issue of some sort of Halo around the moving objects. NOT the halo the TV produces from the bezel. I am talking about when an object is moving in a low or rapid pace, they seem to be outlined by this halo effect. My question is whether this is a known issue and what can be done to fix it and/or would I experience the same thing with the 1004?

I look forward to your responses.

Thanks

Thought I'd post my solution for wiring with an Omnimount ultra low profile mount. It's on order so I can't yet confirm but this should allow the TV to set all the way against the wall with the ULPT-L mount. Hope this can help someone.

Those are the inherent issues we all face with AMP. Those halo effects have been greatly improved over the old 71. But none the less are still there in the 750. There's no difference in the previous 1004 FW in regards to that. You can adjust the intensity of the AMP in the service menu so it's more than Low, but not high enough where it creates those halo effects.

Not sure if this is the same thing but I have noticed some white sort of hazing around white lettering such as ESPN host titles. Is this caused by amp?

Thank you for your quick reply...I take it then that Samsung is aware of this and I certainly hope they are diligently attempting to render a solution.

One question though...what items in the service menus can be tweaked to enhance performance and prolong the life of this beautiful beast.

Thanks!

The answer to the above is YES, i'm sure samsung is fully aware of the situation, and NO, i doubt they are diligently attempting to render a solution, as was shown by the outcome in the 71f thread. Their solution for this years models was to use a panel with a lower response time, along with toning down the AMP, as was done with the final FW update on the 71f.
