Hey guys I have a question, since this will be my first 1080P television. I will be going with Comcast ( only thing in the area) and I'm pretty sure everything on cable tv is broadcasted in 720P and 1080i right? So the only way to take advantage of 1080P is through Blu Ray ( which I have anyway.) So when you guys are watching a show like dosvoery HD or something, and you hit the source button ( or whatever it is, I don't have the TV yet ) does it say 1080i? Or am I wrong and there are channels in 1080P. I'm just confused. thanks

Well the price just dropped another $30 on Big River, so I pulled the trigger. I took an earlier price they had into BB to see if they would match. The floor manager thought the set was being sold from one of the less reputable sellers through Big River, and then couldn't believe that was the actual price... Needless to say, they couldn't match it, although he said they normally would.

Problem is, my estimated shipping date keeps changing. First it was July 28-Aug 11, now it is Aug 6-Aug 20. Does Big River generally over-estimate their shipping dates so when it arrives earlier you're "happy"? The product is in stock and those shipping dates are crazy....

Yeah, that's how I feel about that... However, I'm pretty much gonna buy this set online myself, because a 46" won't be able to fit in a 5-door Ford Focus without too much hassle, and the sales tax would pretty much be a little steep on top of that, so it's only fitting to deal with the "Rainforest" to have CEVA and all the goodness from them. Sounds like a winner, congrats, I'll be joining you in the next few weeks.

It shouldn't take more than a week if it's in stock. As soon as you get the confirmation number, probably on Monday, track it with CEVA or even call CEVA after a couple of days and see if they know where your set is.

Thanks! Yeah once I got to thinking about the BB price match, it wasn't going to matter anyway. I can't fit the 52" box in my Acura, and sales tax is a b*tch (not to mention the shipping).

Today was the first day I actually got to see the 750 in action. I couldn't believe how much it put the other sets to shame. It was certainly on par with the 60" Kuro BB had on display. Of course, I didn't get a chance to mess with the settings.

By this time next month, Bob, hopefully we'll be happy owners! Best LCD available IMO, and it's not even close after I actually saw it in action. The Sony's even looked ordinary by comparison.

That's kind of what I suspected. We'll see how it plays out. I think it is the Big River's way to try to get you to order expedited shipping. Just my opinion. Hopefully CEVA will be ok; I'm not in a big hurry...

Ok here is the router info.

The router I use as the wireless router in my house is a netgear rangemax wpn824v2

The router I wish to use as a bridge is a belkin f5d7231-4.

Now I need someone to hold my hand, I have 128 bit wep encryption enabled.

Thanks in advance,
Mosh~~

Yeah, expedited shipping is where Amazon gets their real money from, I'm quite sure.

I spoke with the guys from Circuit City earlier and they are going to match the amazon price, so I suggest some of you look into Circuit City as they appear better than Best Buy. Also, the manager on the phone told me to be careful because Amazon sells plenty of refurb tv's, and by contract they don't have to report they are refurbs. I'm not sure on true that is, but I feel better geting it from Circuit City because I don't buy used televisions. I also never felt comfortable ordering a TV at this expense online and having people deliver it, not knowing how well they treat the box in the truck. ( Also that it could be used has already told me not to go to amazon, I'll stick with just buying cords and other things via amazon, because you know they are new when because they come in the plastic seal. )

Hey guys, not sure if this was posted before, but I did a quick search and nothing seemed to turn up.

I've had my 52" for a little less than two weeks, and lately it's been giving me a few problems. I have my XB360 hooked up to it with the component cables, and today it failed to give me an image. Even after reseating the cables, the only thing that fixed the problem was resetting the 360.

Then, later, when I turned on the TV, it gave me a blank image. It would pause for a few seconds, then in rapid succession turn off and then back on. It would then repeat the process over, waiting for a few seconds before rapidly turning off and back on again. I can't get it to turn off, it keeps cycling through.

Any ideas? I was thinking it would be a firmware issue, but it doesn't seem like any of the newer firmware corrects such an issue as mine.

Thanks for your replies.

Mosh, from the manual for the belkin, although I would still recommend trying to use it as a bridge with your netgear:

Quote:
A wireless bridge is actually a mode in which your Wireless Router can directly connect to a secondary Wireless Access Point. Note that you can only bridge your Wireless G Router (model F5D7230-4, F5D7231-4) to a Belkin Wireless G Range Extender/Access Point (model F5D7131, F5D7130). Bridging with access points of other manufacturers is not supported at this time. You can use the bridge mode to extend the range of your wireless network, or add an extension of your network in another area of your office or home without running cables.

Here we go again. We already went through this before but if amazon advertises the set as new, then it's better be new or they will be in a world of hurting, people suing them. By law, if the open is returned for whatever reason, amazon or anybody can't resell that unit as new. They have to label it as either open box or refurbish. Some of the guys at Circuit City don't even know where their asses are even if there is an arrow pointing them out!

No wonder the whole place is going down the toilet.

Some HD channels are in 1080i and others are in 720P. None are in 1080p at this time. You are correct, you would have to have a blue ray player or the now defunced HD DVD player to get 1080p. However, your tv will take the 720p or 1080i source and scale it to 1080p. I don't know how others feel, but I would get Directv before Comcast.

+1, if your order says new, it is new. Refurbs and Open Box are separate.

i learned there's a 15% restocking fee, and delivery charges, and with the price of this tv i could be eating $500 which is why i'm asking before calling on the off chance someone might have some similar experience.

Just try it out, we'll see if it works. That may just be belkin's way of saying they don't guarantee it will work with other brands.

Set up the belkin next to your 750 and get it cabled to the 750.

Get the WLAN MAC address off the bottom of your netgear router.

Go into your belkin's setup pages to where you've seen the choice for bridging before. Select there to enable bridging, and you should also see a choice for 'enable only specific access points to connect'. Select that as well, and put your netgear's WLAN MAC address there.

Set up WEP on the belkin with your WEP passphrase, as well.

Try it out.

profit???

What you are describing is fraud and Amazon is not in that business. Just bought the 52" 650 and it was a great transaction.

I wonder if I could use my old XBox wireless box. It's really just a bridge. I wonder if it would work for the purposes of an internet connection for my TV.

Actually it happens on all inputs. I once again checked all connections and re-did everything. It did it again.

Strange, because it seems as if the TV was cold, that's when it does it. But when the TV seemingly "warms up", it disappears again.

Another strange thing, is now that I turn it on. It's normal now. Seems to be a intermittent issue perhaps? Or some sort of strange "break in" period for this specific tv.

If it does reappear again I will take some photos or even a video clip. Perhaps this could be added in the "known issues" section. Seems like I'm the first one to experience this issue though, and this might just be an one in a million thing.

Thanks for all the suggestions and help guys! I love this forum.

Edit: oh and if anybody was wondering, it's the 1007 firmware that already came preset with the tv.

now i'm faced with restocking fees, shipping fees, oh hell. wonder if they'd waive the restocking fees if the thing isn't even opened? at least they could sell it new then.

any thoughts before i get up the courage to call? any experience with amazon maybe waiving the restocking fee? already tried to call CEVA to probe but their offices are closed until monday morning.

uch. double uch.

I'd hold off on the return...see how it looks. If you got a good price on Amazon you could probably resell locally at par. Just my opinion.

But the weird thing is that from the Lacie ethernet drive there is no WMP---it's just a storage disc.

One thing to remember is that the Lacie and WMP are acting as DLNA servers. If the DLNA server software has to be updated, I wouldn't know how to even do it in the Lacie server.

As for WMP11, it's working great for me. I am streaming music to myTV and my Yamaha RXV3800, and pictures/video (mpg) with sound to the TV. It might be worth the upgrade route to see what happens. Maybe there was some kind of DLNA server update in WMP11???

If I get a chance, I'll try ripping with the same software and see what happens....

Edit: I used the same program you are using and it comes out with no sound. It must be the way it's ripped. I'll try different audio options when I re-rip.

I have comcast and my understanding is that they only broadcast in 1080i and the only way you are getting 1080p in the next several years is via Blu-ray.

I was going to go down the DirectTV route, but trees got in the way.... plus I now have a TiVoHD which neither me, my kid, or my wife can't live without and thus we are stuck with Comcast.

Comcast hasn't been too bad... just took them six tries to get the cable cards to work...

I have my TV in a room full of windows through which the sun shines in. On my old 71 series, I used to see a reflection while on the 750 I really don't see it.

It might be that I'm used to it or that the screen is so much brighter, but the only time I see a reflection is if I have my lamp across from the TV turned on and I look for the reflection.

If Amazon is going to stick you with the 15% and shipping, you might as well try the TV out before paying the $$$. Who knows, it might work for you...

Just my two cents....

Mcdon283,
Are you a CC sales guy ??. Why else would you even say things like this ?. Amazon selling refurb TVs and committing fraud ??.
I mean, are there people in this county who are soo stupid to believe these stories ??. FYI, I wouldn't hesitate to even buy a car from Amazon if they sold one.

Well first of all, to answer your question, No I am not CC sales guy. And in case you can't read, CC is what made this comment, not I. Just because you purchased your tv from Amazon, don't blame it on me, as I don't believe they sell refurbs anyway, but I won't risk the possibility. Calm down my friend. And enjoy your used tv. kiddinnngg

For those of you with the 52", what is the footprint size of the base, width and depth. Trying to see how much room will be left on my stand possibly for my dtv receiver or dvd player.
