Is my reciever functioning properly with my game system setup?

I don't know much about audio set ups, although I know enough to not get lost setting things up...I'm wondering if what I've observed after hooking up a new receiver is correct..

I've got my 360 and HD STB hooked into my TV via HDMI and my Wii hooked into the TV via component. My TV has DD pass-through via optical out, which is hooked into my receiver.

When my 360 or STB are on the TV the receiver decodes audio in DD. When the Wii is on, it switched to PCM (and I set it to PLII). I though PCM was a different type of decoder all together...does this sound right? Should the Wii be sending PCM to the receiver or do I just not understand the way this works (likely)?

Also, am I forced to select between PLII Music/Movie/Game or is there just a plain old PLII? I've owned 3 differant receivers over the past few years and none of them had a plain PLII option.

Thanks for the help!

Might help if you say what brand and model of receiver and TV you have as each does things a little differently. I didn't know there was a TV out there that passed the digital output through it.

Right, I though about that but wasn't sure it'd matter...

The receiver is a Yamaha RX-V363 and the TV is a LG 32LB9D...

I'm not sure if pass through is the right term...basically if the source (360 or whatever) is putting out a DD signal, the TV will pass that signal to the receiver.

Do you have your Wii set to send surround sound instead of stereo?

Wii's only output stereo analog. If I understand you correctly, you have the Red/White audio cables from your Wii plugged into your TV. Apparently your TV digitizes that and sends it out as 2 channel PCM over the optical output to your receiver.

There is not just plain PLII, so you are forced to choose PLII Movie, Music or Game.
