whew now that clears up some confusions here!
here's my final script that im using right now, its from you.
svp_flow_lib="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Avisynth 2.5\\plugins\\libflowgpu.dll"
V = ffdshow_source()
S = V.MSuper(pel=2, hpad=16, vpad=16, rfilter=4)
A = S.MAnalyse(isb=true, blksize=16, chroma=false, plevel=0, pelsearch=3, search=3, searchparam=1, lambda=2000, lsad=1600)
B = S.MAnalyse(isb=false, blksize=16, chroma=false, plevel=0, pelsearch=3, search=3, searchparam=1, lambda=2000, lsad=1600)
V.MSmoothFps(S, A, B, num=60, den=1, algo=13, block=false, sadgamma=2, sadml=0, ml=0, blend=true)
GetMTMode(false) > 0 ? distributor() : last
and my other settings that might help other's too are:
(Core2Duo e7500, nvidia 260 gtx 216)
- ffdshow resize to 1280x720 if the video is 1980 (width)
> (ffdshow) fast bilinear at Settings of resize & aspect
- MadVR, as you suggested, (i was using ALL Lanczos tap 4
> chroma upscale, SoftCubic: softness 80
> luma upscale, Spline: 3 taps
> luma downscale, Bilinear
internal filters: all unchecked
here's the order... (need some suggestions here)
> CoreAVC (if im not going to put it here, it'll not work or appear in the system tray icon, but in my lower spec system it appears with or without this here.)
> MadVR (it was not here for a long time, i just tried to put it here in the 2nd place for external filters... it works with or without putting it here in external filters, should i remove it?)
> ffdshow Video Decoder
> ffdshow Audio Decoder
additional side note:
i was using this script too (almost similar to this) in my SINGLE CORE PC
(AMD64 3200+) with 9800gt :P
and some of my settings are:
>scalings are now SoftCubic: softness 80 (coz some of my high bitrate videos cant run smooth with Lanczos settings)
> resize all videos to 720x480
> then to make my videos sharper (coz MadVR's settings are SoftCubic in this setup)
i used unsharp mask: strength 60
for me to be able to run the script smooth even some of my high bitrate movies.
MadVR's in SoftCubic gives soft pictures then just to make it sharper i did the sharpen options with ffdshow's unsharp mask to make it sharper
it kinda looks good in a 32 and 42-inch
i hope my previous very loooooong posts and including this post might help other's too with same noobness like mine =) and can help other people too to setup their systems. i know that my systems are kinda outdated now :P but im sure im not the only one having this oldies but goodies system right?
any suggestions are still welcome guys! =) special thanks to widezu69 for your patient replies, suggestions, scripts and advices
and to SubJunk too for some scripts and advices, dlplover for some settings and advices too!
still will be watching this thread! and will ask some advice in running my 24p movie rips in my single core pc using reclock OR reclock clone of MPC-HC (oh no, here i am again... need some suggestions and advice guys ^^) i want to experience 24p movie goodness too... if my eye wont fail me to notice the difference at 24fps/60hz and 24fps/24p or 24hz UPDATE:
(i just tested it now in a bigger screen, ffdshow fast bilinear setting and MadVR's scaling settings that you gave me)
you mentioned that ffdshow and MadVR are independent in terms of scaling..
coz here's what i noticed... im not sure if MadVR is doing its thing in my other pc. (well i can say its working coz it has an icon in the system tray)
i can see the aliasing (jagged edges) that weren't there before i changed ffdshow's fast bilinear setting (was Lanczos) then i change my downscaling at MadVR too from bilinear to Lanczos again... no luck, aliasing is still there even using SoftCubic. then...
i tried changing ffdshow's fast bilinear to Lanczos again and the aliasing are gone... i thought MadVR will do the upscaling now but how come even i change the settings in MadVR, there's no improvement unless i change it from ffdshow's luma/chroma scaling method (at resize settings). i tried putting it on top of external filters list on MPC but ffdshow video is not appearing when MadVR is on top.
the only thing i did to get rid of aliasing/jagged lines while i stay at your advice, fast bilinear then...
i tried adding Luma Gaussian Blur 1.00 then aliasing are gone.
but what im wondering now is how come MadVR's scaling didnt do anything on that aliasing? i even tried putting SoftCubic 100 to all of its settings but still it seems like there's no visible improvement
so is my ffdshow taking over the scaling that's why there's not much difference in my MadVR's setting? or they both give their scaling methods at the same time? coz the aliasing is REALLY visible when ffdshow is on fast bilinear.
and ofcourse gaussian blur is getting rid of it but its blurry... so i just added some more unsharp mask to fix things...
this happened in my other setup pc (the single core one) who downsizes all videos to 720x480 (LOL!) for it to run smooth with your script + MadVR's upscaling (but it feels like ffdshow really handles the scaling here coz of that visible aliasing jagged edges) do i have to rearrange my external filters at MPC? do i have to check something? or they're just both working on scaling?
