it's going to be nice to finally hear from actual owners rather than some other shill lately *cough* Acuramdx *cough* who does nothing but bash the W4100 and not even care to elaborate on it.

Some bad news for Canadians expecting the 52W4100. it seems Sony has delayed the shipment of 52W4100 til mid-June or end of June at the latest. It will also have a MSRP of $3299.

It's also official that Circuit City now has the 46" W4100 on their website, albeit at MSRP, and waiting for availability, obviously. Needless to say, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing this side-by-side with an A650. Probably may pull the trigger on a 46z, tho, since it'll probably blow both of those away.

Guys, I just called 2 of my local Sony Style stores. One of them HAD the 46W4100 in the back room. It was only 1 so it was not on display. the other one said they have 1 46W4100 coming probably next week. Seems like by memorial day we might be able to get them... I am going to sony style after work to see the 40W4100 next to other sonys and see if it stands out or get for them to demo the 120 Htz and motionflow..

in the best buy where i work when i displayed the 40w4100 i put them side-by-side with an 40A650 and i calibrated both with same settings and i didn't see much difference playing pirates of the carribian blu-ray. i would say both are excellent tvs in my case im going for sony 46w4100 because 2 reasons.

1.- I don't like the red color of samsung
2.- sony price is better

now in best buy system says we are getting the 46" in July 8 i hope this be not true because i can't wait to buy this tv im afraid some day im gonna end buying the 40".

What? No, I was just informing you of the new models that are listed on various websites as they are released, so it is slightly different in that regard.

On top of that, maybe this weekend may be a good time to compare the W4100 side-by-side with the A650 in the 40" variety, so I can piece two and two together to see what it'll be like in larger sizes later on down the road.

No, Bob. By now, everybody and their brother knows your going to get a 46" Z series Sony in the fall. Comments like the Z series is going to blow away the 650 is silly. The Z may be better but it won't blow away the 650. The 650 is just too good. At the quality of these 2 brands the differences are pretty subtle.

I know, I wasn't posting about that just a few minutes ago, tho. Just telling you what was posted on various retail websites so the head's up is there on what's rolling out, that's all. It's got nothing to do with myself, jeez... I never said that it would blow it away, but I am trying to call the two brands down the middle the best I can. I just feel it's a good alternative, for those who wanted some good PQ without an annoying gloss to the screen. Had Samsung had a version of the 6/7 Series with a Semi-gloss/matte screen like they did for the LNT69 series, then I wouldn't be chatting about the Z Series, now would I?

You never said it would blow it away? read your post again, that's exactly what you said. All I said was that I compared a W4100 to the 650 and preferred the 650. I never made a blanket statement that Samsung was better than Sony. I think the Z will be more in line with the 650 and may look as good or better than the 650 but I'd suspect the difference to be pretty subtle, maybe too subtle to declare a clear winner.

When is xbr6/7 going to be released. I just want to see it it can atleast come close to PQ of A650 ??.
Now that Z4100 and W4100 have been confirmed to have substandard PQ compared to A650, Xbr6/7 are the only hope. Damn so much disappointment for all of us waiting for 2008 models.

Also the opinion from owners that W4100 is same PQ as W3000 but with 120hz added is not a good thing for sony.

Does your BB system when you'll get the 52V and 52W in? And does the date listed in your computer apply to just your store, or would the date be the same for all BB? I'm in Buffalo, NY if there's a way you can look up the date for here. Thanks.

I think Sony can get back to business with xbr6/7 if the PQ can beat A650 but the 2X price will still be an issue. Right now I would say, find all those w3000s which are as good as 4100s and get a bargain.

Mark, how about you ??. Can you afford a a650 ?? or you will settle for a Vizio or a Westinghouse ??

Well, if the W4100 is only as good as the W3000, then why does the Dynamic Contrast Ratio for the W4100 equal the number on the A550, yet, have a better on-screen contrast ratio than Samsung? You haven't been spending that much time in front of the new Sony models, have you? The V4100 is clearly a sharper picture than the A550, I saw those two side by side, and you can be rest assured that the W4100 is a step better in PQ over the V4100, that'll tell you something.

4100 is better than W3000. Not in PQ. The PQ is same. The 4100 has motion flow better. I think 4100 PQ is not as good as expected due to 8-bit panel opposed to 10 bit which it should have had. That was a big mistake sony made which is killing the PQ of 4100

Hi All,
Long time reader, first time poster. I am very keen in getting a Sony KDL-52W4100. I noticed that the set is already available in stock and ready to ship on a number of online sites with very decent price. However, many B&M stores like BB and CC and even SonyStyle still do not have the 52 inch model in stock. Is it safe to buy from these sites? (I am not sure if I am allows to give their names, but they seem to have pretty good reviews on Reselleratings, Pricegrabber etc) Will I be getting a 'gray market' set even if the 52W4100 is a new model?

I've heard the 4150 series look more like the new XBR. That is the only difference besides the longer warranty.

I personally like the looks of the 4150 better. I hope the 52W will be available like this. And I hope they'll be available from more than just Crutchfield.

Hmm... So the 4150's gonna have the glass hole, too... I thought there was a screenshot that showed the fact that it wasn't going to have that. Well, guess I can live with the design, despite all that.
