2.40 masking for 1.85 retractable screen

Does anyone have any suggestions on a temporary masking system for a manual retractable screen. I was thinking of maybe using velcro to secure a long strip of black velvet across the top and bottom of the screen, then remove them when I need to retract the screen. This sounds and might look kinda ghetto though.

I have just purchased an 135" electric screen and plan on masking the bottom part to set up a constant height setup using the entire 117" width on 2.35:1 content. I plan on mounting a velvet curtain across the bottom using a long rod that matches my side curtains. I have a door located behind the screen to my attic so my rod has to be removable but that is the easiest solution I could come up with. If you have side curtains then adding a bottom curtain should not be a big problem.
