Panasonic TH50PX80 vs. Samsung HPT5054

Looked at the reviews on both wanted to get some opnions from the Pros. Price difference is about $160.00 more for the Panny. Yeah, I know they are only 720p read lots of post on this issue.

Thanks

I would certainly consider the PX80 in a heartbeat.

Those were my choices as well... went for the panny. It's been just over a month and it still surprises me.

No competition really. The new Panny should be much better than last years Sammy.

I'm in the same predicament! I'm looking at the Samsung HP-T5064 vs. a Panasonic (not sure which one yet as I see a lot of different models and I can't quite tell the difference between them all, the px77u, px75u, and px80u). Anyways my limit is $1400(with tax shipping etc.). The Sammy is about $200 dollars cheaper but I'm concerned about breakdown reports. As far as picture quality goes, I think I'll be happy with either one but if the Panasonic is more reliable then I think that may be the breaking point. Can anyone confirmed, without any bias, that the Panny is more reliable?

Why not check out this year's 720p Sammy, the A450?

^^^Agreed, thougfh I do still like the Samsung 5064.

why are you looking at an old samsung?

get the A450....... the panny will have SLIGHTLY better black levels(barely noticeable if at all) but he a450's colors are remarkable

I looked at prices somewhere and the samsung was more expensive, but now I see that the two actually cost the same so I'll have to look into it.

How have you guys found the glare on the TH-50PX80 and/or the A450? I have a very bright room and my current 42 inch Panny (4yrs old) is like a mirror... any feedback on these new ones?

Thanks for your great tips so far. I love this forum.

I've had both tv's (px80u & a450). The px80u is much better at reducing glare/reflections.
