The PS3 is set as DVD input on the SR606 if this means anything. I cant change listening modes when in DVD mode, or in GAME/TV mode for that reason. When i listen to TUNER i can choose 5 ch. stereo, and alle the other types of listening modes.
So any ideas on what i should do?
This is an issue with the PS3 doing all of the audio encoding itself, and sending the signal out via 7.1 LPCM.
The PS3 is sending the 2.1 signal out as a 7.1 LPCM, so while the source material is 2.1, the receiver is recognizing it as a 7.1 source - it doesn't recognize the need to matrix the sound to the other speakers.
There's two ways of fixing this:
1. Set the Ps3 to bistream the HDMI audio
-the downside is unless you set it back to LPCM, you won't be able to enjoy HD codecs.
2. Turn off all the channels except 2.1 under the LPCM
- the downside is you'll have to turn the other channels back on whenever you're not listening to a cd.
